I was on Famvir for 6 months after which my doctor took me off citing potential liver problems if I were to stay on it (is this true anyone?!).

For me, my obs were dramatically reduced even after I stopped taking the tablets. I think a lot of it was due to stress and having 6 months without the association on stress = cold sore was all I needed to stop getting them through stress. Of course I still have to be really careful and put high SPF on in sun etc but my obs have gone from 2 a month to 3-4 a year and I am a yr on from coming off Famvir.

Good luck

Famvir supresive

Thanks for that, hope you continue with less out breaks, I am just getting over a nasty one, the first one for about 8 months after comming off famvir! could be due to stress levels ie change of job. I dont want to start famvir again, have you heared about coconut oil and olive leaf extract? seems it has had good results for some.

Thanks for the Famvir information. One thing though...what kind of dosage schedule have you guys used? It seems as if it's a pretty powerful drug. I'm about to start on it myself. At first I may experiment with 5 days on, 2 days off. I'm also going to take some herbal extracts (milk thistle, dandelion)with liver-protecting qualities at the same time. Please report back with dosage info! Thanks!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
