Hi everyone !!! I posted earlier about being just diagnosed 2 days ago. NEVER have had a fever blister or sore in my life, no symptoms at all. Currently in a 3 year relationship, 2 previous short relationships from where I probably got it. I had my checkup and I came positive with hsv1 and hsv2. I feel like this is not real, I'm such a healthy individual and now I'm so worried about infecting people I love, can it be passed to kids? I have 2 cousins 6 years old, can't tell my family or they will disown me, they're very traditional and close minded, I am so glad I found this forum. Since I've never had symptoms can I hug people, or hold hands with my boyfriend and kiss without passing it ? How can I protect my family members from getting it ? I am beyond scared of getting a first OB !!!! I got a prescription of acyclovir, should I take it even when I have no symptoms at all? Is it helpful preventing OBs? I don't wanna take something every day of my life, it really makes me feel like I am a contagious virus walking around :( I was diagnosed via blood test, but not sure what type of test. I will get tested again because without any OBs is so hard for me to accept this. Results were negative in everything else and I feel like it had to be my luck to get this disease, I wish I could have all the diseases combined just to not have herpes ; ( i feel like its a punishment , not 5 minutes go by without me thinking about it :( I am so sad and stressed thinking one day I'm gonna wake up with my first OB. I like that I know now, but I also wish I never got diagnosed until I actually get a OB, I would be enjoying my life right now :( sorry for the long post.

Hi foraleza, you have come to the right place.

Find out what exact test you received that told you you were positive. If it was an IgM test then you should test again with an IgG test. IgM tests are unreliable so definitely test again. If you did test with an IgG test find out what your numbers were. False positive tests are possible, especially if your numbers are less than 3.5. Here is a link to an article that talks about false positive tests results:

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/IGG-Test-Result-Confusion/show/593272

Even if you are positive for hsv1 & 2 you can still live a normal life. Hundreds of millions of people have herpes and go about their days normally. You can hug and hold hands and not pass the virus. If you do have hsv1 you probably have it oral and you can still kiss people, although there is always a very small chance of passing it along. 90% of all adults have hsv1 oral so chances are those you kiss will already have it.

Your bf needs to get tested as well. If he doesn't have this virus and you do, then taking daily antivirals will help prevent you from passing it to him. Here is a great article on transmission rates that you should read. You will see that this virus really isn't that easy to spread:

The good news is if you have never had an outbreak the chances of you having one are remote, so there is no reason to take antivirals if your bf does have it as well.

You WILL be ok even if you are a Herpster. Please learn all you can about this and you will feel a lot better. Herpes, for the most part, is a very common, mostly harmless virus.

Good luck!

JB!!!!! Thank you much!!!! I will definitely educate myself more and your answer gave me some peace of mind :) if I was prescribed antiviral daily, should I take it for prevention ? Does it help at all to prevent OBs ? I don't like the idea of taking medication every day of my life, but if it helps in a way to reduce the chance of my first OB I will, or to prevent infecting those I love.however, I would rather depend on my immune system than the medicine :/ I'm confused as of what to do about the antiviral.

Yes, taking antivirals does help prevent outbreaks, but since you have never had one, its probably worthless for you to take them. The chances of you having an outbreak is quite small. No real need to put pills in you for something that is unlikely to happen. However, this is a question you should also ask of your doctor.

Good luck!

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.
