Tested positive for both types, with around a 5!!!!!

Hi everyone! I was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago, not a single symptom or outbreak ever yet. I called today to ask about my results. I was told my blood test was the IGg and that the value was around a 5... also to take my prescribed acyclovir to help prevent an OB. Now I am worried about the number being a 5, I've googled and haven't found helpful info on the # index of test and it's meanings. If any of you know about it, could anyone give me some info? Does being a 5 on the scale does it make me more contagious? ?? I'm scared and new to this no idea what that means. I will get on the meds just because I don't know yet the results from my partner and I don't want to give him this crap if he doesn't have it.... :( this sucks guys!

The most important question now is whether this was a combined HSV-1/HSV-2 test? You only got the one figure of 5?

If this is the case then you can really only conclude that you have one type and most likely an oral HSV-1 infection from your childhood.

It was my annual women checj up and they asked if I wanted to run all std tests plus HIV and herpes. Everything came back negative except they said I tested positive and nurse said over the phone "you tested positive for both types." I called back after seeing here that you gotta know the value of the test. She said my test was the IGg one and the values came back to 5... and no no outbreak ever. I have not even had a cold sore as a kid or adult. Nada. They put me on acyclovir. But I have not started them ...

First start over get a 2nd opinion see a dermatologist you can get a skin check at the same time I get one every year now. Don't take acyclovir it will probably give you headaches and since your not getting an OB why bother with it. If you do get an out break then get valacyclovir it's much better and newer technology you don't have to take it so many times a day. Usually they don't recommend suppressive therapy unless you have more then 6 out breaks in a year.

can you please elaborate on that because the test I did was just a normal STD panel kind of test..so if I call my doctor back I need to ask them if they combined it? they said I tested negative for type 1-but I can swear that when I was like 16 I was told that I had the most common type

I had a similar situation no symptoms but did routine testing but I tested with a 10.00 I freaked. I am going for a second opinion this week so I will let you know how that goes. It's been a emotional roller coaster for the past 5-6 days for me smh. I'm still reeling trying to get answers. I tested negative for EVERYTHING else including hsv 1

Me to...which was weird because I can swear when I was a kid them telling me I had something but everyone has it so don't worry about it...I don't even know where I would go for a second opinion..I was thinking about contacting the lab and finding out from them what type of test they use

I'm going to a brand new doctor and I bringing them my test results. And explain the situation and see where To go from there. Because my first doctor shrugged it off like I had a cold because I don't have symptoms and even told me I don't need medication. I'm just like okay soooo what now? Mind you I'm hysterical. And she proceeds to tell me in her words it's not the end of the world it's not a big deal and before I knew this result I probably already had it for a couple weeks or months now. I was like wow. She was like nothing has to change

Just another set of supporting articles to a potential release date in 2024 giving hope to sufferers whom the standard of care is currently worthless: Promising Progress in clinical trials for Pritelivir (herpescureadvocacy.com) HSV Treatment Readies for Approval — Precision Vaccinations News

I have not found a cheaper source for Amenalief, and I've searched high and low. I have a thread called "Pritelivir at Last" you may want to follow as I have a strong belief that It may be available to the public in the summer of 2024 and as I find new info, I update the thread immediately. Now, may I suggest a combination of drugs that several others on this forum have found to be very effective over acyclovir alone? Myself and others have found that taking 40mg of omeprazole (Tagamet @dissolvedo2 ) with 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the morning and 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the evening alone for 3 days have had profound effectiveness at stopping outbreaks in their tracks. I'd like to remind you that I am not a doctor and at best I am personal researcher for what works for me. I @lw@ys share my findings with the forum in the hopes to help others alleviate their suffering. There is another drug combo that I have tried myself as well as others on this forum have tried and that I personally feel is a much more effective for myself. This combo is 1 gram of activated charcoal with 1-gram of valacyclovir in the morning followed by 1 gram of valacyclovir in the evening alone, again for 3 days. I have found that this has reduced my outbreaks to almost only once a year and they are mild at worse. Again, just a reminder that this works for me and may not work for you but I always feel that i have to share this with anyone that cannot get this virus under control so I hope my findings can help those of you who cannot achieve relief with the standard treatment alone. The stronger anti-virals come with risks and if I can help anyone avoid those risks then by all means I feel I have done some good in this world. I only ask that you let me know if either of these suggestions work for you so that I can document it in my notes. Good luck my friend!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti
