Greetings :)

Mind is just jumbled so I thought I'd seek support somewhere.

After a string of weird events (no OBs but comments/convos etc) over the last couple of months, & hearing docs dont test for Hsv unless an outbreak or pregnant, I wound up insisting my doc blood test me for hsv. Last month I tested positive for both hsv 1 & 2 IgG Ab/IgG (>5.00 H). Hsv 1 I can understand being its so common but I am in serious disbelief over hsv2 as I have not had anything go on down there at all, nor have I been active in the last 3 years up until my current bf. I joked to my friend saying with my luck watch me have both orally even though its said to be rare.. hah. I actually insisted the doc re-test me last week, getting those results tomorrow. Current bf has been tested 2 times and claims negative (0.2 IgG/IgG Ab). Lucky him!

Although I know I can continue on and live a 'normal' life, I still have my moments when I feel horribly crushed. It is pretty overwhelming because now I am concerned for my partners health & our relationship. He is trying, bless him for that. I know people personally who have hsv and live happy lives but Im currently just .. Blah. :/ .. feeling a little lost.

It was the same index value for both on the paper. I will ask at my appointment later about the combined result.

Hsv 1 IgG Ab : >5.00

(0.00-0.89)H

Hsv 2 IgG : >5.00

(0.00-0.89)H

Doc didnt really explain much. She just said dont play the blame game or drive yourself nuts trying to find out who and when etc. To just keep moving forward & how its not uncommon. I asked if it was possible the Hsv2 was a false positive & she said she doubted it but could re-test if I wanted. So I drew blood again. I am still thinking of getting tested elsewhere but when I spoke with Planned Parenthood the person told me they dont do bloodtesting for it unless pregnant or an active outbreak.. found that pretty odd.

Okay... finally was given a doc that listens & seems to know her stuff.

New test result is only listing HSV 1 IgG >5.00. Nothing on result paper saying HSV2. HSV 1 IgM test read negative too. Doc wants to be sure its accurate so I had more blood drawn to re-test since there was nothing about HSV2 & 1st test listed positive. Fine with me.

She prescribed Valacyclovir to take for 7 days & gave a low dose 60 day supply.

Is it possible to have a false HSV2 result? She mentioned the test being a 50/50 thing.

This is so emotionally draining, lol.

Hi guys, My name is Shelly. I'm 25 years old! I've had Herpes for 5 going on 6 years now. I'm just here hoping to learn more ways to deal with the situation and meet new people who actually know what I'm going through!  Thank you for reading! 💕

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.
