there is a small risk in transmission only 5% without anti virals or condomes female to male. Why then do so many people have it? I can't come to terms with this. I'm taking all these vitamins and eating healthy just to avoid OB and so terrified of passing it.

I had cut myself shaving and that's how I believe I contracted it.

I doubt you contracted it by shaving but shaving can trigger an outbreak if there is a cut in the skin or irritation. I have oral herpes and I stopped waxing my upper lip cause it triggered outbreaks lol. I use a creme now.

Anyways.....there are so many answers to your original question the list would be endless.

The bottom line is that there are alot factors involved. Like how in tune is the person with their symptoms and when an OB is coming on, how long they have been infected-the shorter the time the more shedding, what a person considers a safe period-I have a friend who gets cold sores and she kisses once the sore crusts over-I wait until it is completely healed and not even pinkish, how often they get OB's, sometimes OB's are so tiny like little bumps that a person doesn't even notice it..happen to me..I had one on my lip and I didnt even know until I wiped my mouth and felt the tenderness and it was tiny and in the the genital area- there is naturally alot of bumps, pimples, ingrown hairs, stuff is always going on down there, lol, and lastly there is alot denial and people who can't accept or push it out their minds - so they have sex even with blisters.

I am not trying to freak you out....

You have to view it this way.....you should disclose, do what you can to prevent it from passing and accept that the other person has accepted the risk and understands there is no guarantee and keep open communication about the subject just don't over talk about herpes either and make it a focal point of the relationship . Otherwise your going to drive yourself insane with panic and worry! Your also going to drive any partners insane and away from you! Sex should be enjoyed :o)

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
