Two Different Diagnoses - CONFUSED AS EVER

OK, Sometime in November, I noticed a pimple or small bump on my penis. It didn't hurt, burn and it was in no way uncomfortable. I just noticed it.

Being paranoid, I went to the health clinic after a week. The nurse who examined me diagnosed it as a sebaceous cyst. I was mainly concerned it might be a wart, but she said it wasnt and explained was a seb. cyst was........

She advised applying neosporin creme to see if it would help it. That was on November 24th. I would say that at that time I'd had it a couple weeks probably.

So, today, December 15th, with no change, I went to my doctor. He immediately (within 3 seconds) looked at it and said its herpes.

This totally confused me because I've had this pimple/bump (whatever it is) now for approximately 5 weeks.

Since I've had two different diagnoses, I'm a little confused. I do trust my doctor more but I am suprised since I didn't think that herpes outbreak could last this long.

My original concern was that it was a wart, but both the nurse and doctor have told me it isn't. So, I feel good about that.

So, my question is can this really be herpes? An outbreak or whatever for 5 weeks? Anyone had anything similar?

He told me on a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the worse case, I'm a 1.5, so I feel good about that, but I guess I'm either confused or in denial.

Any thoughts????????

When all this started with me, I first noticed a red bump which looked like a pimple but without the white stuff. I went to my doctor and he said it was a sebaceous something, not a cyst, but something like that, I don't remember. I was so freaked out. I asked him if he could test me for herpes and he said there was no need since it was not herpes. I got a blood test anyways and the following week my results came back negative. The bump went away within 2 weeks. Get a blood test if you're not convinced. I hope everything turns out well for you. Good luck.

Correct.

At least a month, maybe 5 weeks. Not exactly sure.

Nothing uncomfortable.

No burning

No itching

2 different (one nurse at health clinic, and my doctor) said its NOT a WART -- but then one said sebaceous cyst and the other said herpes.

Doctor prescribed VALTREX and I supposed to go see him in a month.

I suppose I will take it and go see him. If its still there in a month, then I'll be sure he was wrong.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
