HSV-2 protects against HSV-1?

I heard hsv2 provides immunity against hsv1, but not the other way around?

Tried to research this, but can't find any studies to back this up

Hey Cin, welcome. Any antibodies in the body from already having type 1 or type 2 does give you some protective antibodies from acquiring the either type your exposure too. It does NOT mean that will keep you from getting the other type since some suffer from weaken immune systems and other medical ailments. But I've seen 23 different doctor's over a period of decades and several have told me my Ghsv 2, could have prevented me from catching my Father in law's ohsv1. I was his caregiver and he kissed all of us with visible cold sores, he was dieing of cancer so no one cared what he had. When I asked my Neurological doctor about this he said my Ghsv2, he replied "you most likely won't get oral sores since you already get genital cold sores" and I trusted this. I'm still just genital herps, no signs of oral and I've tested since my father in law passed away. I hope this helps. It's been my actual experience. Take care, Hugs Aces

I hope hsv2 provides some cross protection.

My new partner gets oral breakouts often and doesn't want to get on daily suppressive.
