Need Advice, Going Crazy

I need some help. Please, I had two short bouts of unprotected sex with a girl, within a few weeks I became itchy in my groin and developed a raw red spot on penis shaft and groin had quite an extensive rash mostly on scrotum and a bit on penis.  Raw spot on shaft dried out and went away and I went to the doctor within a week or so of symptoms and they told me it looked like a fungal infection, or yeast. I mentioned my fear of herpes and they were not concerned, but the raw spot I mentioned  was almost gone by this point. I showed them pictures I had taken and they weren't concerned and . I was tested for all other STis which were negative but the doctor told me where I'm at (Province in Central Canada) they do not test for Herpes and only if there is something to swab. The only other symptom I had during this time was a pain in my leg which lasted for a couple weeks, which could be a pulled muscle but it still bugs me here and there. It is deep in my thigh.

I ended up seeing 5 total doctors (one at Planned Parenthood as well) over a period of a couple weeks showing them all my rash and groin and they all seemed to think it was yeast or fungal and I took oral and cream to get rid of it. I had red spots in my mouth, which I had swabbed immediately and that was negative for Herpes.

All doctors I've seen want me to move on and they seemed confident that what I had is nothing to worry about, and have told me not to test. I am honestly suicidal over this and cannot move on. I need help and advice please. does this sound like herpes?

I know visual diagnoses aren't 100 percent but how likely is it all these doctors would be wrong? Can a yeast or fungal infection dry out/scab, I had no blisters whatsoever but I need help please.

The leg pain worried me a lot (but none of the doctors seemed concerned) and I have been in therapy for this as well as other issues related to a break up, and they all want me to move on and said all these doctors would not misdiagnose me. I have been on the edge lately and no desire to do much of anything. I just want to know what's up and how likely it is that I'm okay.. Please help. I was itchy in my groin for a couple days before I noticed groin rash on scrotum and penis and the sore spot. I just want to know what to do as the doctors I've seen and my parents think that I am crazy for not accepting all of their opinions,.

Hey man

I'm no expert on herpes so I can't really give you any advice, hopefully someone will be along soon who can say something more helpful.

Try not to overthink it for now. Accept that you can't know for sure right now, and there's nothing you can do now to alter the result anyway. Don't beat yourself up about not using protection - you can get herpes even from protected sex.

Don't let the fear get to you! Chin up mate.

Hi there, if 5 doctors have examined you and have told you that you don't have herpes, then I would bet my house that you don't have herpes.

There are many things that can cause similar symptoms.  Here is a link to a post that talks about what else you might have:

http://www.herpes-coldsores.com/conditions_confused_with_herpes.htm

Was this person you had sex with someone you shouldn't have?  I have met many people here how cheated on their partners or had sex with a sex worker who felt so guilty that they imagined they had symptoms of herpes and later found out that they did not.

One or two doctors could be wrong, but if 5 doctors say you don't have herpes then you probably dont have herpes

Can a yeast infection or fungal infection cause a sore red spot that dries out and scabs? I went in a little late to the clinic but I still had the redness and groin rash and described everything to them and all of them, four GPs and a planned parenthood doctor weren't concerned and wanted me to put it behind me. I was worried about the leg pain was well. Only left leg. No flu like symptoms or lymph nodes. Girl told me she had a yeast infection around this time so I dunno what to do. I want to put it behind me as they are telling me not to test so I am lost and confused. I heard visual diagnoses aren't that great but instead of doing any tests other than a mouth swab they sent me to a therapist . Honestly suicidal

The girl was a regular girl not a sex worker or anything but I was recently out of a break up and I do feel a lot of guilt. She was semi permiscious but I am not saying that out of judgement. I saw all five doctors within a week or two span of getting symptoms and none had concerns but I am having trouble moving on. I am an anxious person anyways

Jb?? Does this sound like herpes to you

No it doesn't, however I am not a doctor.  Please believe the medical professionals you have seen.  Ask them for a blood test now, and if you test negative retest after 16 weeks have past since you were with this girl.

Even if all your doctors are wrong, which I highly doubt, and you do have herpes you can still live a normal life.  Millions of people have genital herpes and it doesn't bother them at all.  I have been on this website daily for over 6 years and have chatted with thousands here and many of them have told me that getting genital herpes changed their lives ofr the better.

Please believe your doctors and get a blood test to satisfy your mind.

That is where the problem comes from. The doctors say that where I live I cannot do a blood test as in this province they only swab.  I don't know why. They told me not to and move on. Even at the planned parenthood. I had a sore spot on my penis that was there for a couple days and did scab over kind of within a couple days and was only red when I went in due to work. The rash was quite pronounced as well. What about my left leg pain which lasted for a couple weeks? They told me not to test and move on. I did not have any blisters or anything.  No pain or anything in my groin. But I need advice on what to do

I believe in Canada you can get a blood test, but you have to pay for it.  From what I have been told they won't test you under your health plan unless you have symptoms, but you can always test if you pay for it yourself.

I brought it up to both my family doctor and the planned parenthood doctor and neither said a test could be ordered. They both told me to move on. And I ended up on depression meds instead. all five of them think im fine and over reacting and I had red spots in my mouth and an oral swab was neg within a day or two of seeing them. I have had probably a dozen doctor visits and they want me to let it go

The doctors I saw in a different province told me it wasn't herpes and to move on. And they told me not to get a test. I had my mouth swabbed which was negative. I dunno what to do

how accurate are five doctors visually diagnosing? Does my left leg pain sound like herpes and can a fungal infection ever scab? Doctor told me it could break the skin but I read online it doesn't. No blisters or anything

I would say that 5 doctors are quite accurate.  They probably see this everyday and recognize when it is not hsv.  There are dozens of things that can cause leg pain and that isn't one of the more common hsv symptoms.

Do some searching and I bet you can find a place to get a blood test.  Until then please believe your doctors.

Would you feel the need to test or trust what they are telling me? I went in again to planned parenthood for advice from the doctor again a few weeks ago and they recommended I get consoling for my anxiety and the doctor told me she had seen enough herpes and to trust her. She also said that it's hard to pass it without symptoms which I read isn't always true. So I dunno what to do. She said she knew a lot about herpes and that I didn't have it. Even asked if I wanted it or something and to move on

They said they only do swabs in the province I'm in. So I don't know what to do. JB please help with advice. I am honestly suicidal over this.  My only symptoms were red urethra, single sore spot and scrotum rash and at base of shaft a bit. And sore leg/thigh which seemed to come and go.

What province do you live in?  Do a google search on STD testing in your province and I am sure you will find a place where you can get a blood test.

Do you not realize that even if you have this virus your life isn't over?  Do you know hundreds of millions of people have herpes?  Anyone who has had mono, chicken pox or a cold sore has herpes.  Its a virus, nothing else.  Be thankful you don't have the flu virus, that sucker kills 30,000 people a year, so next to that this is nothing.

Please believe your doctors, they see this everyday.

I am just so mad at myself because I have always been paranoid/ borderline ocd about stis after some scares when I was a little younger. I made a dumb mistake a couple times with this girl. I did do a Google search and called around and they said they only do swabs. I feel like I went in a couple days too late due to work and they might have thought differently at the sore spot and rash which was still there  The rash seemed to come and go. If I can id like to just move on with the doctors advice but I don't know

Hi @Anxious 1234 Did you get diagnosis for this?
    • Damian
Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Well thank you I appreciate it

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
