Anxiety medicine and cold sores

Hi all,

I have had cold sores since I was probably in high school, at least that is when I remember first having a cold sore.  I've only had them on my lips.

Usually I would get one, maybe two per year.

Last December, I left my fiance, who I was engaged to for about 18 months, but together with for eight years total.  Not long after that, I had a sore.  I attributed that to stress from the whole situation.

I have been living with depression since I was about 16, by taking .  My final semester of college, I started taking Klonopin for newly diagnosed anxiety due to the level of stress that my final semester was causing me with classes I had.

In June of this year, I decided that I wanted to stop taking the anxiety medicine.  I did as my doctor instructed in tapering off.

I had a cold sore in July, one last month.  Yesterday, I felt one coming on, so I started applying Abreva  throughout the day.

I just noticed I'm getting another!

Mine are usually small, and centralized on my lower lip.  I've only had one sore at a time in the exact same spot on my lower lip.  Today, this one is a hair to the left!

I have thought about going to my doctor to see what he thinks about it, because getting this many in a year is unusual, not to mention the standard feelings of having a cold sore.

Has anyone had luck with any of the prescription medications?  I have heard that they can be prescribed for people who have frequent cold sores.

Just looking for some thoughts.  It certainly puts a clamp on my dating life.

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.

Never had a history of Oral cold sores before, but have dated someone with them.  Thats very interesting about the test. This was my first full panel.  The large bumps have recently show up, its been about a few weeks when I noticed them. Again no pain nor fluids from them.
