could i have contracted it from a toilet or something?

so last week i started having symptoms that are very much like herpes. i had bumps in my genital area, itching in my vagina that then turned into pain (including when i peed). after about 3 days the bumps subsided and a day after this, i saw a white sort of circle shape around the area where 2 of the bumps were. (is this scabbing?)

today, the only guy ive slepted with since my last herpes test said his blood test are clean. could i have contracted herpes from a toilet seat or something? has anyone heard of that?

I don't think that is too likely... I think they did studies with common household items like toilets, towels etc... And even on damp towels the virus can't survive more than a few minutes.... 

Herpes sores are usually more than bumps. They are open sores and can be very painful. They do scab over... But primary outbreaks usually last longer than three days. I wouldn't rule herpes out, but I would place all my money on it either. Bumps in the genital area can be caused by a number of things.

HEy grey, welcome . This test you took did you get swab of sores or IGG HERPESELECT BLOOD test? This mild outbreak could mean you received oral sex from a partner who had cold sores and transferred them to your genitals. I have Ghsv 2, my initial outbreak was tons of sores and spread into the anal area lasting for weeks.

Herpes is pasted when skin to direct skin contact is practiced. The virus CANNOT live on material or animate objects. Have you asked to see that guys test papers?It could be he took an IGM BLOOD test, NOT a proper IGG HERPESELECT BLOOD test. Maybe ask him for these test to make sure he properly tested. Herpes can lay dormant or asymptomatic for decades. Mine did for 23years straight. Keep us posted. Take care Aces xo

hey aces thank you for the reply. would he have antibodies even if the virus is dormant or asymptomatic within him? he didnt specify what kind of test he took (and its too late to ask him as he has blocked my number because he doesnt want to be reminded of how he's sinned with me) but he says his doctor says he's fine. would a doctors office know not to do an IGM test rather than the IGG test? he says hes clean for herpes 1, herpes 2 and hiv, syphillis and gonorhea.

when i visited with the bumps for some reason my doctor did not get a swab. the bumps are no longer there. the only thing i have is white circles around where the bumps were

hey thanks for replyiing. whats the difference between a bump and a sore? does a sore hurt more when you pass over it versus another area? also, ive been taking valtrex, wouldnt that lessen the amount of time that i have bumps for?

When you say "bump" I picture a small bump on your skin. The skin isn't broken and it may be itchy, but it's not overly painful. Now, why I say "sore" I mean the skin has broken, and it can be very painful because there is no outter skin protecting the area. I sometimes get bumps and they are not painful at all. Sores, are painful. Valtrex would lessen the amount of time you have an OB.

Hey grey,yes his blood will carry antibodies. I'm sorry I didn't realize he had blocked you. But you must ask to be TESTED with IGG HERPESELECT BLOOD test. Many doctors perform an IGM BLOOD TEST. This test is mostly used for determination of a person who has been newly infected with the virus  http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/IGG-Test-Result-Confusion/show/593272 here is a link explaining the confusion in BOTH IGG & IGM BLOOD TEST. I'd still advise you to get proper testing. If NO sores, with fluids, are visible, then IGG BLOOD TEST will certainly can type test (like h1 or h2) . Oral cold sores/fever blisters are oral h1 usually. But h2 can trade places from genital to oral locations, it's extremely Rare for this to occur. However oral h1 frequently transfers to genitals more easily. When someone says they have genital h, it can be either h1 (from receiving oral sex) or h2 from skin to skin contact with a partner who has genital h2. The more you know the more you realize many things mimic the h virus, so getting proper diagnosis is very important. Knowing which type, I feel, is also very important since we know h1 is MOST at home in the oral location, but it also has been known to survive quite well in the genitals. We know h2 very Rarely goes to oral locations since it doesn't survive as well as h1, but h2 thrives in the boxer shorts area which include the genitalia and anus areas. Yes, correct. I've had bumps, lumps that never turned into full blown sores meaning fluid filled blisters that buburst on their own and some got infected, some just crusted over, but I never had a white ring. Sweety get that checked. If there is visible fluid they maybe able to swab. I have had vag and anus herpes, this latest outbreak is in the anus, a serious case of red ass. Keep us posted. Also Valtrex and its generic bother Valacyclovir , keep transmission down as well as keep the outbreaks to a minimum. Take care Aces xo
