One year in, M27, HSV2

Recommended Posts

Hi all, 12 months after my HSV2 diagnosis (whitlow as well as G) and I finally got bored of googling every possible complication or unusual symptom related to this virus. My mind and body have been struggling for this past year, but it's mostly back to normal now. Haven't had an OB in almost 4 months now.

I remember the panic during my first one.. it was at the start of a weekend, so I couldn't go anywhere to at least feel like I was being pro-active - all I could do was lie in bed. I couldn't believe my luck - 3 partners total (always protected, but failed on occasion) - I felt dirty and suspicious of everything about her, and any little hint of some kind of symptom. In hindsight, probably this stress and anxiety was the cause of many symptoms I had blamed on HSV - this illness seems to be 80% psychological due to the stigma of that word Herpes.

For people newly diagnosed, try to shed that stigma -  It's what happens when ignorance meets realities that need an open mind, and can make your recovery much more difficult. If you research the virus, bore yourself with it, learn the statistics, live healthily and build yourself back up, you will have beaten an obstacle and become stronger through it. One of a few silver linings with this thing.

Hope I can talk to people who need it, or others from the UK. I didn't spot this board in the beginning, but I did find a similar US site which proved so helpful at that time. Sometimes it feels a bit lonely like there's me, then all the normal people.. especially if faced with conversations involving sex. That's probably the main reason I looked for this forum... I know most people probably have their own secrets that cause the same effect, but I'm just not used to it yet.

Thank you for this post.. Needed it today as some positivism.. I am a freshly turned 20 year old, who contracted it from my boyfriend of one year and my first ever sexual partner. Life is rough eh? I just try to remember things could be much worse.. Would definitely love to chat sometime.

I really needed to see this post.

im back to feeling overwhelmed by it all but numb to it at the same time.

I just want the all consuming thoughts to buzz off and for the sparkly me to return. I am hoping that happens soon - 1 month of being a flatty flatterson is enough!

i tested positive for herpes 2 three weeks ago and i have major depression and anxiety about it. i'm single and had a very active sex life before this and now i feel like my life is changed forever and i've lost so much freedom.

how long did you wait after your first outbreak to have sex? also, did you freak out when you got your second outbreak? i feel like i'm going to have a meltdown when i get another one.

thanks for posting.

Just another set of supporting articles to a potential release date in 2024 giving hope to sufferers whom the standard of care is currently worthless: Promising Progress in clinical trials for Pritelivir (herpescureadvocacy.com) HSV Treatment Readies for Approval — Precision Vaccinations News

I have not found a cheaper source for Amenalief, and I've searched high and low. I have a thread called "Pritelivir at Last" you may want to follow as I have a strong belief that It may be available to the public in the summer of 2024 and as I find new info, I update the thread immediately. Now, may I suggest a combination of drugs that several others on this forum have found to be very effective over acyclovir alone? Myself and others have found that taking 40mg of omeprazole (Tagamet @dissolvedo2 ) with 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the morning and 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the evening alone for 3 days have had profound effectiveness at stopping outbreaks in their tracks. I'd like to remind you that I am not a doctor and at best I am personal researcher for what works for me. I @lw@ys share my findings with the forum in the hopes to help others alleviate their suffering. There is another drug combo that I have tried myself as well as others on this forum have tried and that I personally feel is a much more effective for myself. This combo is 1 gram of activated charcoal with 1-gram of valacyclovir in the morning followed by 1 gram of valacyclovir in the evening alone, again for 3 days. I have found that this has reduced my outbreaks to almost only once a year and they are mild at worse. Again, just a reminder that this works for me and may not work for you but I always feel that i have to share this with anyone that cannot get this virus under control so I hope my findings can help those of you who cannot achieve relief with the standard treatment alone. The stronger anti-virals come with risks and if I can help anyone avoid those risks then by all means I feel I have done some good in this world. I only ask that you let me know if either of these suggestions work for you so that I can document it in my notes. Good luck my friend!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti
