Question for the Ladies

Hi there!

So this is more of a question for the Ladies here, but if you guys have any info please share.

Has anyone noticed an increase in the number of yeast infections/BV they experience since contracting this virus?

I've been dealing with all of this for over a month now. Went in for YI and came out with a Gh1 diagnosis.  I've never had a full on breakout , really just burning of the skin around the vagina, so I don't know if it's accurate to say that(but my doctor seems to believe so).  I've been having near constant symptoms since then and found out today that I had both a yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis.

I was just wondering if any of you ladies has experienced an increase or if I'm trying to make connections where they don't exist.

Hi!

I had 3 back to back yeast infections this past summer prior to my first outbreak in August (gHSV1). I contributed them to 3 rounds of strong antibiotics. I have only ever had 1 yeast infection before these 3 (about 6 years ago). And then BAM WHAM! After the 3rd, I started to have sores, which I thought was from the multiple yeast infections or from an allergic reaction to the antifungal, but a positive culture said HSV. I have been healthy for the past month and a half. I woke up today with yeast infection symptoms again (cottage cheese discharge, swollen).

Just came back from the doctor. She said the yeast could be caused by friction during sex, allergic reaction, or multiple other reasons. She ALSO said that yeast infections are a symptom of prodrome. She prescribed me 3 days of valtrex. I already took Monistat this morning.

I'm still super confused. It bothers me that I can't get a grasp about what is going on. Is it reoccurent yeast infections? Is it prodrome?

Did your doctor just visually diagnose you or did she take tests to see if it was herpes? Don't believe her diagnosis until you take a typed blood test.

If I take the valacyclovir every day, it gives me a yeast infection.  If I only take it during outbreaks, I am fine.  Hope this helps.

That's interesting. Why do you think it causes you a yeast infection?

I started having constant painful yeast infections in February.  In April my doctor prescribed 6 months worth of diflucon because we couldn't seem to figure out what was causing them.  In May I got one really painful sore, which like you, I thought was caused my the yeast.  But then in July, I felt I'll one night, sore throat, headache, etc, next morning woke up with severe pain down there.  When I checked myself, I had three painful ulcers.  By the time I got in to see the doctor the ulcers were gone.  In August I had an IGG test and I tested positive for hsv1.  The symptoms have seemed to subsided.  I haven't had a yeast infection since August and feel okay down there.  The doc prescribed Valtrex (not sure if that's how you spell it) I didn't take it.  Just tried to ride it out.

I am not on any antivirals because I have never experienced a sore and my doctor won't prescribe it without.

I got diagnosed via IgG blood testing.

I am not completely convinced that it is ghsv1 but I guess better safe than sorry.

does your doctor seem to think the yeast and herpes are linked?

He said he wasn't sure but after reading up on it myself.  I find that a lot of women started out with recurrent yeast infections.  I feel that it was definitely related and looking back I believe it was part of my initial OB's.  The burning and itching was beyond anything I had ever experienced.  I actually had to leave work early twice because I was in so much pain.

I just got my test result back saying I'm positive for yeast. I'm still getting over the infection... but now have a few small paper cuts on the edge of my labia. And above my clitoral hood, the left side is swollen and itchy, but no sore. Kind of like a bug bite. I took 3 days of valtrex and lysine everyday.

I'm so over this all already. Not sure if this is an outbreak and yeast or just a yeast infection. BLAH

Glad to hear that your yeast infections have subsided. Hopefully they continue and mine stop too!

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.
