I have had HSV-2 for about 6 years now and have had sex with people after this (disclosing always of course) but lately I have become a nervous wreck. I am so petrified of catching something else that I am almost ready to swear off sex. Mostly worried about HPV I think. I have been doing research and its almost impossible to not get it! I had sex a month ago and now im having panic attacks and looking up every possible disease. I want to get checked for everything but I know I have to wait like 3 months. Idk what is wrong with me. I want to have sex but I hate having so much panic. If I get something else idk if ill be able to go on to be honest..im having a hard enough time coping with HSV. Anyone have calming information about HPV or something to make me calm down a little?!? lol. I know this dosent protect me but I have had the HPV vaccine.

What do you know about HPV and the effectiveness of the HPV vaccine? From what I have read, it is very effective against the most common strains of HPV. What makes you say that it is almost impossible not to get it? I'm more curious about what you've read that makes you think that than anything else..

The good news is that even if you were to get an STD, the majority of them are treatable. The bad news is that you have to be really sure about your partner's sexual background and sexual health if you're going to be able to properly protect yourself.

Most women get strains of HPV that their immune system fights off over time (there are so many strains out there). The 4 most common ones that cause genital warts and cancer are covered in the vaccine. There really aren't tests for HPV. Your Pap smear checks for abnormal cells due to HPV. I wouldn't stress too much. Condoms are your best defense against it.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
