Paranoid about every itch.

Hey all, I got diagnosed with genital hsv1 2 months ago. My initial ob was very mild compared to what I've heard. I haven't had an outbreak since but have been experience some pretty bad paranoia.

Im currently not on daily suppressive medicine but do take L-lysine, vit c, and zinc daily. (Suggested not to do suppressive because of mildness of type 1)

But now with every single itch or tingle I automatically assume that's the cause. How can I get over this?

Is there anyway I can tell for sure if it's just symptoms. It doesn't itch all the time, maybe for a split second once a week. Am I just psyching myself out?

For those with type 1 genitally as well, what have your reoccurant outbreaks been like?? :(

I feel your pain as I am in exactly the same situation as you. The first time for me was a month ago and was like a hemmorhoid itch with two tiny nicks on my perineum. Something cropped up this week which was even more mild and even smaller! Had there not been the itch, I wouldn't have even noticed anything!

I keep thinking every itch, tingle, tweak, twinge is going to result in an outbreak.

not happy that I had the second occurrence as I have suffered from coldsores all my life, so didn't think it was possible to acquire ghsv1.

I think with time we will realise that most things going on down there are actually nothing. Prior to this, I'm pretty sure I always had some sort of itch, pain etc down there, only difference is I didn't really pay attention to them then!

Yes! I totally agree. It probably is nothing 99% of the time but we might pysch ourselfs out and then become stressed which may then lead to an outbreak. Kind of strange. I swear I had sligh itching and just general discomfort from time to time before I contracted this. I'm sorry you had another outbreak.. But in glad it was so small

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
