It feels like I have been having issues nonstop with ghsv1 (since August). Yeast infection after yeast infection... Will they ever stop?! Why are they even linked? I'm not getting any sores.. Just infections. and paper like cuts from the irritations.

Starting to feel completely defeated. Between the yeast infections and my period and not feeling right down there... Will I ever be able to have sex again? :(

It does seem that people with genital HSV experience higher levels of yeast issues. It is not known why and is probably more related to an inherent susceptibility for vaginal issues.

Regardless, the only way to treat yeast is as yeast. Follow your doctor's advice and seek stronger medications to defeat it.

Sorry to hear you are having the back-to-back infections.  Are you on anti-virals?  I know when I take the valacyclovir every day, it gives me a yeast infection, so I had to stop taking them.  Also, check your tp; Charmin also gives me a yeast infection.  Hope this helps.

Not taking any antivirals. I take lysine tablets everyday, as well as probiotics and a multivitamin. Unfortunately I'm allergic to diflucin (yeast meds). I haven't changed anything that would cause yeast... Even switched to hypoallergenic detergent. Never had yeast infections until I was diagnosed with herpes this past summer. So frustrating :( thank you for the posts.

Not likely, there is usually something causing the imbalance between yeast and bacteria.  Here are some common causes of yeast infections:

antibiotics (they lower the amount of lactobacillus, or good bacteria, in the vagina)

pregnancy

uncontrolled diabetes

weak immune system

poor eating habits, including a lot of sugary foods

hormonal imbalance near your menstrual cycle

stress

lack of sleep

Stress is a huge cause for me.

I wish I could figure out why.. I haven't been doing anything different than I have in the first 26 years of my life. :/

I did end up getting one sore pop up during this yeast infection. The yeast and herpes have to linked somehow. I think I caught the last infection with valtrex in time that no sores popped up.

Thinking about going on suppressive meds and trying to do a preventative yeast treatment for 6 months.

I had an irritation once where the doctor could not find an infection; not yeast, not bacterial.  She said my PH balance might be off and to try an OTC product called rePHresh.  I used three applications and I felt much better.  It worked for me. Something you might want to consider.

Thanks, sheisblue. I researched rephresh and it has many good reviews--the applicator and the probiotic pills. I've been seeing commercials on tv about it and it seems like a great option. Hoping I won't need it! But glad it's there if things don't improve.

Real talk,

it sounds like it's not a yeast infection. You mentioned in your post that you have paper cuts. That is not a part of a yeast infection. It's actually one of the symptoms of an OB. When I had my first OB, I had "paper cuts" present, increased discharged, and 2 small blisters.

If if you still think it's a yeast infection, add 1-2 tbsp do Braggs Apple Cider vinegar with the mother on the label. Add to water and drink it everyday. It's known to neutralize candida. Also, swallow a whole piece of crushed garlic. That will help too.

Love to dance,

Each one yeast infection has been diagnosed as yeast. For some reason my skin gets irritated and dry and sticks to my underwear (which causes the small cuts on my labia majora). I've gotten one since my last post and immediately took diflucin and used diaper rash cream in that area.. Yeast went away and no cuts since I kept the cream on. Small personal victory.

Ive started suppressive valtrex so I'm feel hopeful that my health will get back on track.

thanks for the tips everyone!

Our bodies esp. Women have yeast, bacteria like staph and strep on them at all times. My assumption is that when you contract H that since your immune system now turns to fighting this tenacious/unrelenting virus and can no longer keep your normal flora and/or yeast in check.  Before H your body's immune system wasn't fighting all the time likely like now a bug that "never sleeps" and these other things are allowed to flourish

I'm sorry but that is not quite right. There are over 100 viruses inside each human being that our immune system is addressing, not to mention the hundreds more that 'drop in' for a while such as the flu virus. The addition of HSV-1 or HSV-2 does not change the strain on the immune system at all.

Actually HSV-1 and HSV-2 are at the innocuous end of the strain on the immune system.

Hence there is no different impact whether HSV is present or not. Most bodies are 'fighting' or addressing as i prefer viruses like CMV, HHV6 etc. all the time.

My doctor has the same theory as guy. Which is why he isn't treating the yeast, but put me on suppressive meds. I hope to believe that Guy is right. My other doctor says yeast can be prodrome of an ob (this is my gyno. Not sure I believe this one).

I'll keep you updated. Hopefully I see progress.

No progress. Still struggling :( really hope this is a passing phase where my immune system is still fighting to get back to normal. I'm so over all of these constant symptoms. Will I ever be normal again?

Hey @JS.245 and welcome to the website. The pictures aren’t that suggestive of herpes. Hard to tell from the pics what’s going on, but that could be a number of things. Are the larger bump bubble things persistent? What you have in the pics is hence independent of your herpes status.  The test results are inclusive - most people test over 5 if they are infected.  Do you have a history of oral cold sores?

Hey, just got a STD test a while ago after noticing these showing up at the base of my penis, but its been about 5 months since I was with someone and now these are showing up. It doesn't hurt nor do I have any other symptom that I know of. I'm trying to see what's up before I go to the doctors because I don't have insurance and I'm very anxious about the situation. the std test was expensive as is.

Just another set of supporting articles to a potential release date in 2024 giving hope to sufferers whom the standard of care is currently worthless: Promising Progress in clinical trials for Pritelivir (herpescureadvocacy.com) HSV Treatment Readies for Approval — Precision Vaccinations News

I have not found a cheaper source for Amenalief, and I've searched high and low. I have a thread called "Pritelivir at Last" you may want to follow as I have a strong belief that It may be available to the public in the summer of 2024 and as I find new info, I update the thread immediately. Now, may I suggest a combination of drugs that several others on this forum have found to be very effective over acyclovir alone? Myself and others have found that taking 40mg of omeprazole (Tagamet @dissolvedo2 ) with 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the morning and 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the evening alone for 3 days have had profound effectiveness at stopping outbreaks in their tracks. I'd like to remind you that I am not a doctor and at best I am personal researcher for what works for me. I @lw@ys share my findings with the forum in the hopes to help others alleviate their suffering. There is another drug combo that I have tried myself as well as others on this forum have tried and that I personally feel is a much more effective for myself. This combo is 1 gram of activated charcoal with 1-gram of valacyclovir in the morning followed by 1 gram of valacyclovir in the evening alone, again for 3 days. I have found that this has reduced my outbreaks to almost only once a year and they are mild at worse. Again, just a reminder that this works for me and may not work for you but I always feel that i have to share this with anyone that cannot get this virus under control so I hope my findings can help those of you who cannot achieve relief with the standard treatment alone. The stronger anti-virals come with risks and if I can help anyone avoid those risks then by all means I feel I have done some good in this world. I only ask that you let me know if either of these suggestions work for you so that I can document it in my notes. Good luck my friend!
