Does it REALLY get better with time?

Ive heard a lot of people say herpes gets better with time, the longer you have it, but does it really?

Ive had GHSV2 for 2 years now, and the nerve pain continues to increase daily, while the outbreaks have increased on my penis and subside on my pubic area.

Year 1: 5 outbreaks

Year 2 to date: 5 outbreaks.

There hasnt been a decline in 2 years, but does it get better?

Hey lexy,

I've heard the same. I've had GHSV2 for 2 years now (just celebrated the anniversary, lol) from my own experience, my GHSV2 got loads better (no outbreak for 8 months now!).

Here's the thing though - I've also heard that the experience with the virus is very individual. Remember - 80% of people with GHSV2 have little, or no symptoms. Already, the majority of experiences differ from both of ours quite a bit!

My advice to you is to stay positive. Don't underestimate the power of your mood! Laughter actually improves your immune system's strength - it's not for nothing that they say laughter is the best medicine ;) Believe that it will get better, and see what you can do to reduce the outbreaks. You can always go on antivirals, and trying different things out like exercise and good diet may help to boost your immune system.

I have been wondering the same thing, because for the first 2 years of having this I had 1 outbreak a year. 3.5 years into it my nuts are constantly irritated and itchy and periodically break out into an outbreak. What's more ridiculous is that I eat healthier, drink less alcohol, and have a better lifestyle overall. WTF?!?!?! BS

Not to mention I supplement with Lysine daily, doesn't seem to do shit even though it used to help.

I was very itchy one day, and I was pretty sure I was on the verge of an outbreak. That night, there was a party, and I drank quite a bit of alcohol (whoops...). The next day, the feelings of itchiness and of an outbreak completely disappeared.

I will swear, up and down to this day, that alcohol got rid of my herpes :P

Moral of the story...sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

(No one really has the answers with herpes, because it just does what it does - your relationship with your virus is unique to you, lol)

I've had Ghsv 2 for almost 30 yrs, I'm female and initial outbreak was 4 months long in vag and anus areas consecutively, I've only had 3 outbreaks and my 3rd outbreak was a few weeks ago. That ob was in anus area only and lasted longer than the 2nd, but less than the 1st. It does get better since I went 23 years in dormancy stage. Mood, diet and immune health all play a part in keeping your body free of frequent outbreaks. Yes, absolutely laughter is very healing. Hugs Aces xo

I'm not one of the people it gets better for. I stopped taking the pill left my arsehole ex and I've had more symptoms in the past six months than I did in three years. Might just give up and go bak on the pill forever. Bad day today :( I hate that three years on this shit still makes me cry.

Maybe try!

I have started taking a bath in tea tree oil or peppermint oil and within a week the itching and tingling quit.   Definitely have to be careful and not use to much peppermint oil as it can feel like icy hot on your skin.

I also use peppermint lotion from bath and body.. no more itch or tingles. .

I have regular tea tree oil baths also n I recommend them they are great. Other things u can try is salt or eucalyptus. I also used to use pinetarsal in the bath but it stinks but is the best anti itch stuff for the bath

In the beginning I would have these gnarled feelings around my testicles.

From my understanding of what HSV does and what has worked for me...

The body is a bunch of channels, passages, tracks, whatever.  Hsv expresses itself along the nerves , damaging them and leaving garbage along the way.  Your body is constantly cleaning up the garbage, regenerating and suppressing the virus.

what works is to roto-root the affected area, supplement the organ responsible for draining that area(kidneys), and regenerate the nerves. And helping your immune system identify the virus more effectively.

not everyone is endowed w the same constitutional might but they're not excluded from receiving relief.

you have to address the root problem rather than wafting at the branches.

You know considering alcohol is a big "trigger" of herpes, I have had the same experience as you.

In December 2015 I partied HARD for 7 days straight, drinking alcohol in excess every night. I didnt get an outbreak and the tingles stopped too. I have never had an outbreak from alcohol, I just dont think it hits the triggers in my own body. For me its Nuts and too much Coconut (although coconut oil on the skin works well for me, just not ingesting)

It might be too much of a stretch to say that alcohol would kill the virus...if that high of a level of alcohol were flowing in the bloodstream, we might have some major problems...like alcohol poisoning, lol.

Dang though...7 days straight Lexy?! Can I have a bit of whatever you're drinking? Where do you get the energy? HAHAHAHA! ;) Bravo!

Hi @Anxious 1234 Did you get diagnosis for this?

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Well thank you I appreciate it

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
