It has been almost a month probably longer  and i am still experiencing symptoms from my initial outbreak of HSV2. I dont have any bumps, but the itching and skin irritation is so bad. My skin is also peeling near my bottom area and thatitches, sorry for the tmi...but have any of you experience anything like this?

That would be post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).

If you wanted to try some herbal remedies, some suggestions are as follows that may help:

Nervine herbs target and heal nerves.  The following are nervines or use nervines as the primary herbs in the formulation.

-St. John's Wort: read contraindications, but it regenerates nerves and tissue. It's antiviral to HSV.  I suggest getting it from Gaia Herbs company. They're very high quality.

-Lemon balm salve with a mix of other antiviral healing soothing herbs.

I was kind of lazy, and used whatever I found in my cupboard when I was first diagnosed with HSV2...I'll admit, aloe vera gel actually really helped get rid of itching!

I just sprayed some aloe vera on a current outbreak and it helps a lot. If aloe vera can soothe sunburn, then it can soothe herpes

I swear nothing helps you guys. Ive tried aloe vera gel, different oils, i even tried the lidocaine 3% cream the doctor prescribed. . NOTHING is working. Idk what to do. I will try the herbal remedies and the st. Johns wort.

just make sure you get the Gaia Herbs brand.

There are 2 companies that make the liquid extract, New Chapter and Gaia.  Gaia is ~$10 cheaper than New Chapter (just overpriced).   Gaia grows and processes all their own herbs.   You don't know the quality/purity when you get it powdered.  With the liquid, it has been analyzed for consistent quality.

UPDATE! OK so i discovered i still have a few clusters of bumps down around my genitals . When i rubbed peroxide on the area they turned white and burned a tad bit. So im guessing things are nust healing VERY SLOW. i took all of my Valtrex. I am wondering if i should ask for a refill .... have you all heard or tried Dermoplast (blue can)? I was told this works wonders

Sweetheart have you tried Bactine Spray? It's in the band-aid aisle. It really numbs the area. Lidocaine did nothing for me.

Hey Ace! No i haven't tried it.  I will definitely be picking some up soon. Ill also be calling my doctor tomorrow to get a refill of my antivirals.  I have had this outbreak for over a month!

Yes!!! I am very happy it helped you same as it did me. This last anus ob drove me nuts then I remembered the bactine spray and my body sang sweet song of relief. Hugs sweetgirl Aces xo

PLEASE HELP ME. I AM SUFFERING IN MY SCALP WITH. PHN FOR FOUR YEARS. MY THOUGHTS ARE ONLY HOW AND WHEN I WILL KILL MYSELF. THE ITCHING AND BURNING IS SUCH TORTURE. CAN I BUY THIS BACTINE OTC. WHAT SHOULD I DO. SPRAY IT ON MY SCALP.

Yes I did however prayer and learning it got better and diet change

      Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

      Hey @WilsoInAus miałam dzisiaj wizytę u dermatologa, gdyż dostałam zmian w pachwinie, w trakcie wakacji nad morzem. Udałam sie tam ze zmianami w postaci strupów. Powiedział ze nie można wykluczyć opryszczki mimo negatywnego wyniku Hsv igg i zalecił wymaz z pochwy na Hsv i inne choroby. Wytłumaczyłam mu że zmiany zamieniają się w strup, ale nie ma w nich płynu, więc zalecił badanie śluzu pochwy na hsv PCR, zastanawiam się czy ma to sens, i czy wirusa można wykryć na podstawie tego badania w wydzielin z szyjki macicy.
