Should I wait?

Hello ladies! My husband and I are thinking about trying to get pregnant. I'm just wondering if I should wait until I've had this virus a little longer before we try? I contracted hsv2 in June and my symptoms are just now starting to calm down. Also, will pregnancy make my H go nuts and cause lots of OBs? Thanks:)

Hi princess, IMHO I don't see any reason to wait if you think you are both ready.  This virus should not be a considering factor; instead, you need to decide if you are financially and emotionally ready to be parents.  As we all know, this virus affects everyone differently, so you may or may not experience outbreaks during pregnancy.  I had a few, but the small inconvenience was well worth the prize in the end.  I have two beautiful children who were not affected during pregnancy.  Also, the longer you wait, the harder it gets.  Hope this helps. :)

Thank you for your response! We have two children together already, 15 and 10. I'm just afraid that since i haven't had the virus for vey long that it might be more risky for the baby. I'm still undecided. :)

Other than outbreaks, this virus should not have any affect on your pregnancy, but I am not a doctor.  Check with him/her first.  If you get the ok, there is no reason to wait.  Your children are lucky to have such a great mom!

princess, the only real danger to a baby is if the mother has her primary outbreak while she is pregnant and that sounds like you had that back in June.  As long as your doctors know about this you should be fine.  Every day thousands of women who have genital herpes give birth with no complications.  This website has a section on pregnancy and I suggest you read it.

Good luck!

I had herpes simplex way before I got pregnant and when I did get pregnant my herpes simplex stayed dormant for 23 years at one one straight. I took antivirals daily for suppression therapy and with my doctor's okay, we had no trouble. My h stands for honors, she's in college now and still on Dean list of honor student. Have you discussed these fears with your doctor? My doctor was an amazing guy with 7 children, he really kept me at ease for talking freely about my concerns. Hugs Aces xo

I haven't discussed it with my doctor yet. I'm still undecided. I just don't want to be depressed during my pregnancy due to H symptoms. :(

It's exciting that you are thinking about pregnancy! :) I don't have any children, but I'm guessing that pregnancy has its rough patches for everyone, with or without H. And I think having reassurance and support from a trusted doctor will help with your H-related anxieties.

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
