9 months pregnant Freaking out

Hello everyone,

I'm new here but am currently due with my second child in 2 weeks. I contracted hsv 2 about 6 months before I found out I was pregnant... my doctor has reassured me that the transmition rate is extremely low and that as long as i take the suppresive meds I will be okay to try for a vaginal delivery. However, I am feeling so uneasy. My outbreaks are mild and sometimes I don't even know if I am having one or not, and can not see any sores.... I am so afraid that I will be shedding without knowing it and pass it on to my baby. I am very torn about weither or not I should just schedule a c section... On a side note, I am also extremely paranoid about spreading it to my other daughter (now 4).... I was diagnosed with it genitally but think I may have it orally... I am so afraid of giving it to her somehow. Sometimes she hops in the shower with me, or kisses me on the lips and I am so afraid I will somehow give it to her. Any feedback would be appreciated...

Trust me having cold sore is not a bad thing. If I have contracted cold sore before I would get this hsv1 from oral sex and wear the name of herpes. For the sake of your second child, I assume a c section is a safer delivery option. Howeve you can test for igm to ensure u don't have any recent outbreak before delivery.

Don't worry houseofleaves, you and baby will be fine.  If you are having an outbreak during delivery, the doc will do a c-section just to be safe.  I delivered two beautiful, healthy children via c-section b/c I had an outbreak at the time of each delivery.  Don't worry about the what ifs; no point driving yourself crazy.  More importantly, don't stress; it's bad for baby.  By the way, congratulations!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
