Anal fissures?

Small amount of background:

Have had HSV1 for 15 years or so.

Sadly, haven't had a sex partner in 3 years :/

About 2 years ago (sorry to be graphic) I had a very big, non-fiber, bowel movement and my anus got cut. I switched to really soft toilet paper, and after a couple days it went away.

But it reoccurs, only when using really bad toilet paper (the cheap kind, like at my mom's house right now) and when I forget to eat enough fiber.

I believe the only reason why I'm questioning this now is because I just finished healing from a cold sore, and I was using really hard toilet paper today and felt a fissure open on my anus when wiping.

I finally have insurance, and I figured now's the time to go get it looked at (the fissure is always in the same place). So made an appointment for next week, but when doing internet research on anal fissures A LOT of websites are claiming that what many think is just a fissure or a hemorrhoid, but is really herpes. A close friend of mine has genital herpes, and she assures me I'd know if they were herpes, because it would hurt A LOT worse than just some minor pain and tiny amount of blood when wiping.

Still though....

Could I have really auto-inoculated my anus? I shouldn't have read that website, cause now my brain won't let it go. I'm glad I have an appointment, so I'm just looking for some thoughts :)

No this would be virtually impossible. Your fissure sounds exactly like that, a fissure. In some cases some stitches are required to assist in healing otherwise it never properly does.

Out of interest what are the signs of Anal Herpes?

I get a lot of shooting, sharp nerve pain in my anus since getting HSV-2, and sometimes when wiping it feels slightly painful (maybe once every 3 months). Its mostly the nerve pain though.

Im sure if it was a proper OB i'd be unable to sit down, knowing the pain ive had on my penis at least.

Sitz baths are great for anything down there. It's just a plastic basin you buy at the drug store for 10 bucks. Fill it with warm water and epsom salts and sit in it twice a day for 15 minutes. It will bring your ass back....eventually.

And there's no such thing as 'anal herpes' it's all just herpes, it can go anywhere in that region because it's all connected to the same nerve bundles....usually has nothing to do with 'auto-innocualtion' this shit just does what it wants.

I also experience anal fissures about 3-4 times a year. I'm obviously no expert but I believe that my fissure is herpes.

I only had 1 true outbreak on my perineum (a tiny cluster of 3-4 blisters) I've had the fissure before and after my classic symtoms & official diagnosis of hsv 2 .  I read that fissures can  actually be herpes too, and that's what I believe my fissure is.

Though,  that's just my belief . I'm curious what your Dr will say. Please keep us posted!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.

I did notice they stoped selling the one I bought it was a 7 panel test for 7 std but now they got the 6 panel and hsv is not on it but they do collect blood and pee and you send in to a laboratory
