how come I'm not getting outbreaks?

Not that I want any but, I find it kind of strange that I've only had one (for sure) outbreak in June of 2015, when I was diagnosed, and nothing since.

I have done the math and I finally figured out who gave it to me (he finally admitted it too) So that means I was infected in December of 2013.

Which means that in almost 2 years of having it, I've only had one very mild outbreak, and what's really surprising is that I've  been under a TREMENDOUS amount of stress lately. I thought for sure the stress would bring it out of me but so far...nothing.

I stopped taking antivirals about 2 months ago too. I almost want to live in la la land and pretend it doesn't exist (don't worry-I won't do that) but I almost find it hard to believe I have hsv 2 sometimes.

Why do you guys think I'm not having outbreaks? Does that mean my immune system is really strong? I don't know what to make of all this?

I'm thankful but confused.

It's interesting...I've also been through extremely stressful times when I expected to have an OB but it never happened. I had a few at random times in the first 2 years after infection and then not a trace of the disease for 5 years.

I think it's just a very misunderstood and unpredictable virus. I would surmise that yes, your immune system is doing a good job controlling it. There are some who carry it for decades and never show a symptom. Actually, the majority of infected people are asymptomatic, so you are probably closer to that end of the spectrum. You're more normal than the rest of us who do have symptoms.

Do you have any other symptoms? Like prodrome, tingling, itching, etc?

Thank you for your response elnino.

I don't think I get any other symptoms.Once in a very great while, I will feel a very minor itch in my butt (Sorry for the TMI  but that was where my initial outbreak was) but when I feel that way, I take a shower and put some coconut oil on,  and then it goes away.

I hate that alot of you have a much harder time with the virus.I'm sorry to all of you who do.

Every stressful point in my life since getting this virus i have had an outbreak. By stress i dont just mean small stress, i mean like emotional breakups, people dying etc. General life stress doesnt cause anything in me.

I am jealous that most people are asymptomatic, but then it makes me feel better because i KNOW i have it, whereas asymptomatic sufferers may be in denial, and during sex may not know they are passing something on which could ruin someone elses life.

Stress is No. 1 tricker for my OB.  First OB was bad, valtrex fixed it and I started taking Lysine after the 1st OB finished then suppressive meds for a year after. Now I only take meds when needed. I think different people react to the virus differently. I heard that someone has the virus for a long time without knowing it because they don't have OB

  • 2 weeks later...

the H fairies have smiled on you! I have very mild obs each month around my period. Itching, very small white bumps, and that's it. But I do have them. I'm thinking of taking antivirals this summer to avoid it all. I have time to think about it.

So it was a year and a half since you acquired it until you had your first ob?  Herpes is a weird one.  Glad you're not having any more ob.  Do you think it's just your immune system or have you taken any steps to improve your immune system?

Hey @JS.245 and welcome to the website. The pictures aren’t that suggestive of herpes. Hard to tell from the pics what’s going on, but that could be a number of things. Are the larger bump bubble things persistent? What you have in the pics is hence independent of your herpes status.  The test results are inclusive - most people test over 5 if they are infected.  Do you have a history of oral cold sores?

Hey, just got a STD test a while ago after noticing these showing up at the base of my penis, but its been about 5 months since I was with someone and now these are showing up. It doesn't hurt nor do I have any other symptom that I know of. I'm trying to see what's up before I go to the doctors because I don't have insurance and I'm very anxious about the situation. the std test was expensive as is.

Just another set of supporting articles to a potential release date in 2024 giving hope to sufferers whom the standard of care is currently worthless: Promising Progress in clinical trials for Pritelivir (herpescureadvocacy.com) HSV Treatment Readies for Approval — Precision Vaccinations News

I have not found a cheaper source for Amenalief, and I've searched high and low. I have a thread called "Pritelivir at Last" you may want to follow as I have a strong belief that It may be available to the public in the summer of 2024 and as I find new info, I update the thread immediately. Now, may I suggest a combination of drugs that several others on this forum have found to be very effective over acyclovir alone? Myself and others have found that taking 40mg of omeprazole (Tagamet @dissolvedo2 ) with 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the morning and 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the evening alone for 3 days have had profound effectiveness at stopping outbreaks in their tracks. I'd like to remind you that I am not a doctor and at best I am personal researcher for what works for me. I @lw@ys share my findings with the forum in the hopes to help others alleviate their suffering. There is another drug combo that I have tried myself as well as others on this forum have tried and that I personally feel is a much more effective for myself. This combo is 1 gram of activated charcoal with 1-gram of valacyclovir in the morning followed by 1 gram of valacyclovir in the evening alone, again for 3 days. I have found that this has reduced my outbreaks to almost only once a year and they are mild at worse. Again, just a reminder that this works for me and may not work for you but I always feel that i have to share this with anyone that cannot get this virus under control so I hope my findings can help those of you who cannot achieve relief with the standard treatment alone. The stronger anti-virals come with risks and if I can help anyone avoid those risks then by all means I feel I have done some good in this world. I only ask that you let me know if either of these suggestions work for you so that I can document it in my notes. Good luck my friend!
