Hi I'm new to this. I had my first outbreak last week and it lasted a week. I got on Valtrex right away for a week. My test results came back positive for 1 and 2. I was with my bf the weekend I started getting a breakout. Sadly I thought it was just a sore throat and he was tested and showed for 1. I'm trying to find natural medicines that I can take daily to reduce future breakouts, be less "contagious", and methods of how not spread it to my love?  Or something he can take so that he wont get it?  how long to wait after a breakout to have sex? How do you know when you're done breaking out etc? Will I be able to or should I have kids? If I ever kiss someone without 1 can I give it to them? So worried I have cried for a week straight.

Hi and welcome to the site. I really hope we can help you here!

Be really helpful to understnd a few things.

Where did you have your outbreak?

What test did you have and what were the results? Be very specific with all the details you received.

Regardless of what you do or do not have, there is no reason to worry about your life being different to your dreams.

The doc just said positive for herp 1 and 2 which means I have the antibodies to the virus and could have picked up at any point in time in my life. my break out was mostly in my throat and one on the inner part of my lip. The vaginal area only had like 5 sores total but it was mostly just a strange pain. Now im just kinda itchy and some pain but my throat is completely cleared up. I have read that you shouldn't have sex, with a condom or kiss anyone until your outbreak is gone. I don't know what it will be like when its dormant though. Do the symptoms completely go awasy and that's when its ok?

It seems like the test was a combined IgG test for HSV1/2??

I think all you can assume is that you have an oral HSV-1 infection from childhood.

Was a swab of the sores in your genital area taken?

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
