Newly diagnosed but no break out yet

Hi, so I went to the doctor last week and found out yesterday that I have gential herpes. I cried all day yesterday until I did my research and I realized that I'm not dying. It was and still is hard. Make me want to cry just writing this. I told my mom and my bf right away. I haven't had a break out yet go my knowledge. I figured once it happens i'd know. But what are some signs to look for when to know it's coming or just any symptoms?

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. It is hard at first, but over time most people come to realize that it's no big deal. Outbreaks are different for everyone, so it's hard to say exactly what you will experience, if you get one at all. Some signs may include: itching, tingling, tenderness, redness, bumps, cuts, sores, etc. Of course the itching/tingling is very easy to conjure with the mind if you are constantly thinking about your crotch and how you might have an outbreak! I would suggest just trying to stay busy/distracted to keep your thoughts off of things for a while so you don't stress yourself out.

Thank you. It still just feels likea dream that I had. I'm trying to think positive. 

I did have a small cut in November that took about a week to heal. It hurt really bad. I also had itching but assumed it was a yeast infection. A lot has been just going on with my body lately that's been unexplainable.

What test did you have that revealed genital herpes? What were the results?

It was the HSV2 IgG. She just said that my blood tested positive. I didn't ask too many questions about it because I was in shock

Definitely ask more questions, you need the value. It must be greater than 3.5 to confirm a herpes infection.

I asked what all did it say and the nurse just said all it says was positive. They didn't say anymore then that. I didn't know anything about numbers.  But I really don't want to keep calling them. I'm not sure why I need the number I just want the information about it so when it happens I'm ready. I have to wait till Monday to get my pills due to Christmas. And I'm still learning.

Okay I called the office. They said it was greater then 5 and after that they stop counting.

Perhaps you will never have a full blown ob. I have never had sores or blisters just prodromal symptoms as elle was mentioning such as tingling burning and redness for the first two months after exposure. I was devastated and realized that it really isn't a big deal. I decided to become a better person and it has been my blessing. Has your boyfriend been tested?

I remember having something that felt like a yeast infection but it wasn't quite the same. He's getting tested soon with the holidays it's been kind of hard finding a doctor.
