Hey guys, I'm newly diagnosed and I have tons of questions despite all the research I've done.

What is viral shedding?

What is an OB?

Can I spread my hsv2 to someone through oral sex?

If I have sex with my partner who also has hsv2, will that trigger an outbreak?

Can I get hsv1 from giving oral to someone with hsv2?

I'm female and I heard males have less of a chance contracting herpes than females, what's the chance of infecting a new partner, even wit protection?

Why is my outbreak SO excruciatingly painful?

What triggers outbreaks?

What is viral shedding?

It's the release of virus - with herpes the virus is usually released at the surface of the skin. Sometimes this occurs in the absence of symptoms, which is then referred to as asymptomatic viral shedding.

What is an OB?

An outbreak - with respect to herpes, an OB is usually used to refer to an event where someone is experiencing symptoms (i.e. sores, blisters, etc.)

Can I spread my hsv2 to someone through oral sex?

Yes.

If I have sex with my partner who also has hsv2, will that trigger an outbreak?

It depends. Sex is a trigger for some, but not for most.

Can I get hsv1 from giving oral to someone with hsv2?

No, but you could get hsv2 in the oral region. It's highly unlikely but still possible.

I'm female and I heard males have less of a chance contracting herpes than females, what's the chance of infecting a new partner, even wit protection?

It depends on many factors. If there are no symptoms present and you've had hsv2 for a while, the chances are very very low.

Why is my outbreak SO excruciatingly painful?

It's your body's way of telling you that there are wounds on your skin where you're having your outbreak. You might be getting secondary infection of the wounds by bacteria, depending on your hygiene. Keep the area clean and try Bactine numbing spray, covering with Desitin maximum strength paste.

What triggers outbreaks?

Triggers vary from person to person. It likely comes down to nutrition and immune function. If either or both are not good, you will likely have all sorts of triggers. Stress is a universal trigger, because stress inhibits immune function.

Hi i am also newly diagnosed female with both types. I was diagnosed in nov. 2015. I have so many questions. I don't want to spread it to my partner or anyone else if it doesn't work and I begin to date.

1) can I spread it to his genital area if I give him oral sex even if I'm not having a breakout oraly?

2) I have some sort of symptoms every week such as pain in the lower abdomen and pain when I stool, and pain in the vaginal area. Are these considered a breakout and should I refrain from sex at these point of symptoms?

3) how long after a sore goes away can I have sex and oral sex?

4) how easy is it to spread the oral type to another person by kissing them?

5) should I not let anyone take a drink from my glass and vice versa?

6) does anyone know of a natural regimen to prevent or suppress breakouts?

7) is suppressive therapy bad for your body of longterm use?

So lost and devistated. Answers to any of the questions would help. Thanks!

Hi there,

We do 'viral shed' orally.  Alot of doctors will say to just refrain from sexual intercourse when you're having an outbreak but unfortuantely they don't mention viral shedding, which is when we are shedding the virus but having no physical symptoms. It's impossible to know when you are shedding, but it dosen't happen every day, and you can take anti viral medication and use condoms, dental dams to lower the risk. It's a lot harder for a woman to infect a man, as they have less mucus membranes.

Q1 + 4 =

In genital infections:

HSV Type 1 = 3 to 5% (of days evaluated)
HSV Type 2 = 15 to 20% (of days evaluated)

In oral (mouth) infections:

HSV Type 1 = 18% (of days evaluated)
HSV Type 2 = 1 % (of days evaluated)

Note that the rates of shedding tend to be higher when the Herpes simplex virus type occurs in its “typical” or preferred location of infection, such as HSV-1 cold sores or HSV-2 genital herpes

5) i personally don't share drinks with anyone, but its up to you.Lots of people don't consider hsv 1 (cold sores) as herpes, and just refrain from kissing and sharing drinks, lipsticks etc when they are having an outbreak.

6) Lowering stress, exercising, take vitamin c, anything to boost your immune system as its your best defense against it. In time your body will adjust and your outbreaks will become less servere and further apart.

7) There hasn't been any reported documents on any side effects from long term use with antivirals. I wouldn't worry.I just use them when i feel like im about to have an outbreak, and if i get into a sexual relationship.

Have a read on this forum where it says hsv info and here is a handout for transmission risks from herpes opportunity.

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.

Never had a history of Oral cold sores before, but have dated someone with them.  Thats very interesting about the test. This was my first full panel.  The large bumps have recently show up, its been about a few weeks when I noticed them. Again no pain nor fluids from them.
