Now what? Recently diagnosed.

So I have Herpes Type 2. I have been wrestling with it for a day or two now and I am really happy to have found a resource like this site.

To share a bit about my story its pretty classic, had sex with a long time friend, unprotected not thinking and 8 days later I was in serious pain. At first I thought I had a yeast infection or BV because I have had those before. But nothing made it better and on New Years Eve I called every Planned Parenthood near by couldn't get an appointment because of the holiday and finally went to an Urgent Care Walk In Clinic. Safe to say my New Years Eve plans were rightly crushed. Before I went in the two nights before I was in unbearable pain, couldn't sleep at all, itching burning, bleeding. The doctor didn't diagnose me with Herpes that evening, but the next day I called in because he had told me to check in if I had flu like symptoms or chills which I had started to get. Called me back and confirmed I had Herpes Simplex 2.

Totally in shock but sooo happy to know what the heck was wrong. Now I am on Valtrex, feeling loads better but still flu-ish. I still have a lot of questions, and have an appointment with my normal OBGYN in a few days.

Called the guy who I am 99.9% gave me Herpes and he was totally shocked. He is going to get tested and we will see what happens.

Since there are so many people here with experiences of living with Herpes, I just wanted to see if there are any things you would have wanted to tell someone who is new to being diagnosed. I am trying to be as positive as possible with it, I'm not mad, just feel a bit stupid, but as stupid as I would feel if I shared a glass with someone with a cold.

I have a lot of questions about diet changes, if I will have a lot of outbreaks beyond this first one in my lifetime (I know we are all different but is there any common traits for who gets more or less outbreaks?) The big one question I haven't found an answer to yet though: How do I keep the outbreak from spreading to my thighs or other locations?

Thanks for reading all.

What i do- vitamins for immune help- Vitamins B,D,C,zinc and sometime Iron. Lots of water! I'm not suggesting to do this, but if you do get a blister on your buttocks you could try those cold sore patches to make sure it doesn't spread. Helped my cold sore heal fast and not spread.Unfortunately, my first lesion popped up in different locations.Good news is they don't scar and lesions aren't forever. Basically, your immune system will kick in soon, and help to put it into dormancy. Best not to wear tight fitting clothes, G strings etc while you have an outbreak.

Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

In this forum we will discuss does lume work Lume is paraben-free and uses several natural ingredients like Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, tapioca starch, and Maranta arundinacea root powder (also known as arrowroot powder) to control odor and sweat. One of the key Lume deodorant ingredients is mandelic acid, an AHA found in skin care products, which also has an antibacterial effect.

Ibuprofen medicine is a painkiller. Can you take ibuprofen on an empty stomach  Some people take medicine empty stomach which is not good for our health. Because painkiller kind of medicine is very strong and can harm your liver. Medicine makes many strong ingredients. like Lactose, corn starch, hypromellose, sodium starch glycolate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide (E171), and carnauba wax.
