Too scared to pass on HSV...

HSV has done more damage to me emotionally than it has done physically. I've turned into a drinking wreck! My primary fear is being alone. (Yeah, even guys think that way!)

Rejection is one thing but I fear more about passing this bile skin condition onto someone else. I just can't bear the thought of it! Even if a girl was willing to take the risk... I wouldn't let her cause I know what it's done to me.

Will this mindset change in time? I honestly don't think it will... :(

I can tell you from vast experience that drinking is not going to help any aspect of this! Alcohol feeds the virus but also breaks down your mental defenses. Easier to believe in negatives when your brain is in a weakened alcohol fog. Time and life will pass you by when alcohol gets in the way of reality.

Knowledge is strength! With your own education, your way, you will clearly see this virus can be kept under control. This is a life lesson none of us wanted but will lead us to learn in ways we never imagined possible. Yes we look at ourselves differently but we also look at others in a way we may not have before.

You are underestimating the nature and strength of people and their compassion for others. There just may be someone who is dealing with their own "thing" that feels the same as you do, untouchable, but it may be something you could deal with. I have had 3 long term relationships and never passed on my very nasty HSV2 virus because I took charge of my life with knowledge about this. You found this site, full of information and compassion, so to me this proves you want to understand how to take back your life. Allow Free Will for others to make their choice.

I bet you would go to battle for someone you loved, now it is time to fight for yourself! Love is too beautiful and precious to take yourself out of the running! You are smarter than a virus, fight back with knowledge to regain your strength!

As you said, HSV has done more to you emotionally than it has physically. I imagine that prior to getting HSV, you probably thought herpes was terrible and only certain kinds of people get it, etc. etc. So of course you are an emotional wreck now, despite there actually being minimal health effects (=it's all in your head). If your partner enters the relationship fully aware of the risk, I highly doubt she is going to be affected emotionally the way you are. She would have outbreaks from time to time (or maybe not!) and she would live her life and go on to love again or stay with you and continue to be loved, whichever. So what's the issue? You're not ruining anyone's life, except your own right now.

If you want the mindset to change in time, it will. You will find a way to change it, reimagine it. If you want to beat yourself up about it forever, you will.

Out of interest, what techiques and strategies did you use to make sure you never passed on the virus?

Obviously condoms + antivirals, but what else?

I guess the short answer would be Knowledge of myself and the virus!

Long story. I was infected 35yrs ago when there was no internet to Scare me! That is the bonus!

I was 25 and not ready to give up on my life so I never stopped looking for answers for myself. We are all so very different so I only had to treat me! I listened to every twitch, tingle, and tired feeling my body offered me as a guide to go into action. This just meant not engaging in intercourse until all signs either passed or went into full blown outbreak then I would wait it out. Not ideal but the most important part was not to pass on my bad luck.

Ten years later I found a Master Herbalist.  He mixed up a herbal tincture of natural antivirals, designed for me, that kicked the ass out of the virus. I stopped having regular outbreaks and it opened my eyes to the possibilities of keeping this in check. I learned what foods to help and what foods triggered outbreaks. Lysine to Arginine ratio works great for me!

Herbalist retired and moved far away. I found a Naturopath (ND) that uses Applied Kinesology to muscle test me to see what is appropriate for me. I am now on Herpes Homeopathic, "like treats like". I take herbal tinctures, Oil of Oregano and Lysine! I have not found a cure for myself but I have taken my life back and live it on my own terms. The added bonus being I am very healthy in all other aspects and know I can outsmart a virus! With this belief and knowledge I stopped Hep C in its tracks upon initial contact after surgery so maybe herpes saved my life!

Now I use my Pendulum, dowsing, to ask myself what is going on and what I need to do. It is my way to do applied kinesology on myself. My journey for knowledge led me to places I could never have imagined and I am a far better, healthier and happier person for it. If I knew then what I know now I believe I could have stopped it setting up shop in me! Hep C  cannot be cured. HA!

If I could have found a Chinese Herbalist I would have sought them out. I know they have strange brews from our planet that fight dis-ease like HSV that have been around as long as people and dis-ease going hand in hand, so to speak!!! My Naturopath uses Chinese herbal medicine as well. Please know herbs are strong medicine not to be taken without guidance.

I do not have a cure for this virus but I found what works for me by never giving up and fighting back with the aid of professionals. It is important to know that I am not a person who has money to throw around. I am on a small fixed income yet I can afford the help of my Naturopath because I found one who muscle tests so appointments are only 10 minutes long and very affordable. Some treat differently and take an hour and that gets costly. There are Naturopaths that are Intuitive and that too will speed up diagnosis.

If you have read other posts of mine you may see I fell into a pit for a few years (nothing to do with HSV more about unpleasant people impacting my life. I just re read that and I see HSV is not the worst that can happen to us!) I stopped taking care of myself as I was. Now I am back with my Naturopath dealing with Sacral Outbreaks because of food intolerance's. This has reinforced my belief in what professionals can do for me because I am winning that battle too!

Open your mind to see your options and believe in your own power. You will be amazed!

Hello ParanoidTeacher. I had a Master Herbalist who made up the tincture based on my symptoms and how my body was dealing. I no longer have him since he moved but my Naturopathic Dr makes up herbal tinctures as well as homeopathy, chiropractics, Chinese Herbal supplements. If you can find a reputable Naturopath (ND) in your area they can treat with many modalities and find what is most suitable for you. Look for a small private business not a fancy clinic, they cost more from my own experiences.

Oil of Oregano can be found in most pharmacies now and in health stores. It can be in liquid form but now I just purchase the capsules as they are so much easier to take and can be opened up if need the liquid for topical use.

Look up Applied Kinesiology, you will be amazed that our body has the power to tell us what it needs. Makes choices much easier!!!!! The use of a Pendulum or "Dowsing for Health" may be a bit more than your brain wants to accept but I live by it as I am happy to have all the safe and loving guidance I can find in life!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti

Well thank you I appreciate it

Hi @Luna 01 I really feel it is worthwhile obtaining a proper Herpeselect test given the outcomes of the home panel test. Regardless, your current symptoms are almost certainly not related to herpes. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in resolving these.
