The flu like symptoms are killing me. I've had a splitting headache for over 24 hrs. I have a fever and now both my legs are aching terribly. And I usually have a high tolerance for pain. How long does this last?! My doctor was so non chalant about the whole thing. Almost like "sorry, deal with it". I was in tears sobbing. Wth? Help!!

Lesions are on the left side of my labia majora (inside of the lip). She wouldn't do a swab because she said they were already healing and would most likely come out negative. This has a been a horrible and painful experience.

I was on my period then had sex with my husband and 2 days later I was burning while urinating. I was being treated for a bacterial infection (BV) with Clindesse. I thought it was due to that. Then thought maybe it was scented soap allergic reaction. I checked and didn't see any bumps. I went to Vegas with my girlfriends, in pain the entire time. Then felt a bladder infection. Got treated for that and looked again and saw the bumps then made an apt with my OB Gyn. I suspect I've had it for a few years. Every once in a while I get itchy and tingly in that same spot, but had just used hydrocortisone and it kind of helped. I'm thinking due to stress and every other infection I had down there I finally had the "big" outbreak. It's been 4 years since having a different sex partner. My husband has no sores or symptoms and swears he's been faithful.

I never really got my question answered. Since I just found out 2 days ago, I guess this is my first official OB. I'm having terrible flu like symptoms. I read that it is sometimes apart of an out break. How long does this typically last? Or is it different for everyone. It's been brutal. I haven't gotten out of bed for 2 days. :(

Natalie, the answer is that this virus affects everyone differently.  You should be feeling better in about a week, two at the most.  If not, maybe see your doctor again and see if something else is going on.

Yes and you believe in Jesus then pray for healing understanding and patience it will get better and I topical lemon balm or honey on the lension would promote a speedy recovery.

      Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

      Hey @WilsoInAus miałam dzisiaj wizytę u dermatologa, gdyż dostałam zmian w pachwinie, w trakcie wakacji nad morzem. Udałam sie tam ze zmianami w postaci strupów. Powiedział ze nie można wykluczyć opryszczki mimo negatywnego wyniku Hsv igg i zalecił wymaz z pochwy na Hsv i inne choroby. Wytłumaczyłam mu że zmiany zamieniają się w strup, ale nie ma w nich płynu, więc zalecił badanie śluzu pochwy na hsv PCR, zastanawiam się czy ma to sens, i czy wirusa można wykryć na podstawie tego badania w wydzielin z szyjki macicy.
