Hi I'm new, I just got back from the ER and they told me I could have herpes. I'm only 19 and I don't know what to do. I know my parents are disappointed in me that I had sex and I didn't tell them but I didn't know how. My ex doesn't know yet that I could have herpes and he was the first guy I ever had anal with I'm still a virgin vaginally but now I just feel disgusted with myself. I really just need someone to talk to and that will listen to me and help me understand what I'm going through.

Welcome Skyy.  First things first, wait for your results to see if it really is herpes or something else.  If it is, you came to the right place.  There is plenty of information here to help you learn to live with the virus and really awesome members who can help support you along the way.  Posting your story and asking questions is a good way to start; it always made me feel better.  Don't worry, ok?  You are going to be fine and you are not alone.:youarewelcome:

If you do, in fact, have herpes the answer is yes.  Herpes is a virus that produces blisters; similar to one you would get on the back of your heel from a tight shoe.  Once the blister heals, the pain is alleviated.  There are different creams and ointments which may help.  Just keeping the area clean and dry helps a great deal.

I recently got into a new relationship how so I tell my bf that I have herpes cause I had sex with my ex while we dated. It's gonna hurt me to know he doesn't want to be with me because of this, if it is herpes. :pensive:

Hi, welcome to the website.  The more you know about what you might have the better you will feel.  Have you ever had mono, chicken pox or a cold sore?  If so you already had herpes.  Herpes is just a very common (90% of all adults have it) mostly harmless virus.  The first outbreak is always and the longer you have it the better it gets.

There is a great support group in the ATL.  They meet every 2nd Thursday at 7pm at Piedmont Hospital.  There is no sign there saying "Herpes meeting", you just go to the Rich Auditorium and there will be a moderator there who will simply ask you if you are there for a support meeting.  The moderator will start talking about this virus and will answer any questions that are asked.  You don't have to say a word if you do not want to and you can leave at any time.  That group really helped me out when I was first diagnosed.

Come to chat, there are many nice people who go there to help others.

Good luck!

JB

The lesions arrive about 4 days after sex. The ER took a swab though? When do the results come back?

I just got the results back a couple minutes ago by phone. I have HSV

You could've gotten it from your current bf if you've had oral sex with him.

That's somewhat extraordinary! Did you receive analingus? Was the anal sex unprotected?

Have you ever had oral cold sores? Do either of your parents have oral cold sores?

It was a week after the anal sex that felt the lesions but it took me 3 days to go to the hospital because I thought it was a different type of infection like an abscess since I have already gotten 4.

Just another set of supporting articles to a potential release date in 2024 giving hope to sufferers whom the standard of care is currently worthless: Promising Progress in clinical trials for Pritelivir (herpescureadvocacy.com) HSV Treatment Readies for Approval — Precision Vaccinations News

I have not found a cheaper source for Amenalief, and I've searched high and low. I have a thread called "Pritelivir at Last" you may want to follow as I have a strong belief that It may be available to the public in the summer of 2024 and as I find new info, I update the thread immediately. Now, may I suggest a combination of drugs that several others on this forum have found to be very effective over acyclovir alone? Myself and others have found that taking 40mg of omeprazole (Tagamet @dissolvedo2 ) with 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the morning and 1 gram of Valacyclovir in the evening alone for 3 days have had profound effectiveness at stopping outbreaks in their tracks. I'd like to remind you that I am not a doctor and at best I am personal researcher for what works for me. I @lw@ys share my findings with the forum in the hopes to help others alleviate their suffering. There is another drug combo that I have tried myself as well as others on this forum have tried and that I personally feel is a much more effective for myself. This combo is 1 gram of activated charcoal with 1-gram of valacyclovir in the morning followed by 1 gram of valacyclovir in the evening alone, again for 3 days. I have found that this has reduced my outbreaks to almost only once a year and they are mild at worse. Again, just a reminder that this works for me and may not work for you but I always feel that i have to share this with anyone that cannot get this virus under control so I hope my findings can help those of you who cannot achieve relief with the standard treatment alone. The stronger anti-virals come with risks and if I can help anyone avoid those risks then by all means I feel I have done some good in this world. I only ask that you let me know if either of these suggestions work for you so that I can document it in my notes. Good luck my friend!

Hi @WhatDidIDo2023, hopefully all is well with you and your significant other and are still together.   Did she develop any other symptoms after you mentioned her getting itchiness? Was it determined what you had was contagious? Most likely developed a fungal disease and caused her a yeast or uti
