I got positive tested for HSV1

I had oral sex with an unknown girl 2.5 months ago. I had been feeling sick, flu like symptoms for 2 months. This week I got positive tested for HSV1, swab results not out. Negative for chlamydia, syphilis, HIV

I am feeling pain/tingling in my penis and anus, my head is spinning, headache, muscle ache, achy eyes and diarrhea. Since, I started taking my anti-viral today. Could it be a problem I started so late? Are these symptoms normal? Are they going to go away?

Any other tests I should be getting? I have one cancer sore type thing inside my mouth. Nothing else anywhere in the body.

I feel so bad.

You have a bad dose of flu or something; that is pretty much it.

Herpes does not cause these issues.

Your positive HSV-1 test result, which I assume is a very solid positive on IgG, most likely indicates that you have an oral infection since your childhood. The great thing about this is that it means you cannot realistically get it on your penis.

There is a lot of things this could be, some serious but mostly something you'll get over with a good week of rest, plenty of water and sleep.

Have you told your doctor about these two things? Nationally-distributed STD health organization literature that I've read states that it is common for a person to come down with a severe case of flu-like symptoms approximately 7-10 days after contracting HSV. That was also my own experience (about 7 days). Roughly, your time frame, from when you had sex with the person (2.5 mos ago), and when you noticed the flu-like symptoms (2 mos ago) could possibly mean it is an indication of the infection, except I don't know anyone who has had flu-like symptoms for 2 months. Mine was really bad, and I was bed-ridden for at least a week, and nowhere near 2 mos. But it really was bad for the time I had it. Worse than any normal case of the flu.  I've never read that pain/tingling and diarrhea is a part of that, though, and I did not experience either along with my severe flu.  I'm glad for you that you tested negative for chlamydia, syphilis, HIV. Sorry about your HSV1 diagnosis. You take care now! :)

      Hey @Zrozpaczona9 that looks like folliculitis to me, that’s independent of the question of herpes. The doctor is wrong in the sense that a negative IgG test is beyond reasonable doubt that you do not have herpes. It is a small percentage of people for which a false negative occurs. The doctor is right to take a swab to increase your confidence that there’s no herpes present. I’m sure you’ll have your result soon.

      Hey @WilsoInAus miałam dzisiaj wizytę u dermatologa, gdyż dostałam zmian w pachwinie, w trakcie wakacji nad morzem. Udałam sie tam ze zmianami w postaci strupów. Powiedział ze nie można wykluczyć opryszczki mimo negatywnego wyniku Hsv igg i zalecił wymaz z pochwy na Hsv i inne choroby. Wytłumaczyłam mu że zmiany zamieniają się w strup, ale nie ma w nich płynu, więc zalecił badanie śluzu pochwy na hsv PCR, zastanawiam się czy ma to sens, i czy wirusa można wykryć na podstawie tego badania w wydzielin z szyjki macicy.
