What does it feel like...

I found out I have hsv2 about 3 weeks ago. I had no clue what it could be. I think in the back of my mind I knew. But I thought I had cut myself shaving or I had a pimple on the outside lips of my vagina.

Since I'm recovering from my first ob and wasn't paying attention to the signs, what does the next outbreak feel like? Can I get one right after another clears up? or is this the same one? I have tenderness and somewhat of a pimple like on the outside lips of my vagina, just one side. No flu like symptoms, no other blister like sores. Just tenderness, itchy, bump on the lip. Another outbreak or same one? How long do they usually last? I still feel so clueless about this disease even after reading so much.

There's a wealth of info on this site, and also in the posts. I suggest you read it and learn all you can about the condition. It's going to be with you for a very long time, and the more you know, the easier it will be for you to deal with. Knowledge is your friend.

It is possible for the first ob to last a few weeks. It's usually the longest and the worst ob you'll have. It's also possible to get them back to back, especially at first, until your body has time to produce antibodies to fight it, so it's hard to say whether it's the first or the second. If your symptoms cleared up completely and then reappeared, it's probably your second. If they've been continuous, probably still the first. Not everyone gets flu-like on set symptoms. I never have.

You might consider taking a supplement (Lysine is a popular one) to help your immune system along, even if you're taking a prescription suppressive like Valtrex. From now on, your immune system is going to be your best ally in fighting off ob's, so be good to it. Eat well, get enough rest, and try to avoid excessive stress. In other words, take care of yourself.

I'm glad you found your way here, and I hope you take advantage of the knowledge and experiences of others who have been where you are now. It's hard, I know, but it gets easier. Promise. ;)

Thanks! I have learned a lot from this site but haven't really read anywhere if what I have could be the ending of my 1st ob or the beginning of my 2nd. I've kept my stress level down. I'm also taking lysine. Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it!

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.
