@jonathandoe I've never actually heard of someone first-hand who has been entirely 100% asymptomatic (no symptoms ever), but they're supposed to exist...

The vast majority of people (probably 95% or more..) with hsv have had symptoms .. It is said that 80% of those with hsv do not know what they have BUT that doesn't mean they never had symptoms, and in studies most of that 80% admit to symptoms when told of them. So, really the people who don't know they have HSV are mostly ignorant, uneducated and have had minor symptoms. Without a doubt, prevalence of hsv in Trump supporters would be vastly higher than Clinton supporters.

There are also those like my giver -she got oral HSV-1 as a child and recalls brutally painful sores that a doctor even prescribed cream for (surely acyclovoir cream), BUT she did not know those sores were caused by HSV-1 - ignorance + lacking education. She likewise assumed she was healthy because a doctor never mentioned anything during yearly physicals and such...

So, the answer to your question in my opinion is NO there are not many people that would be oblivious and that had never had an outbreak. It's very easy for one to lie and plead ignorance though and that is what happens in most cases. That generally perpetuates the idea that many are asymptomatic when they're not.

I do know of a person who was 100% asymptomatic yet passed it on to their partner who goes through hell with it. I have lost contact with them so do not know if there has been a change as time goes on but unfortunately it does happen. Too bad the medical community would not seek these people out, as they have done with the HIV carriers who are not affected by the virus, to find what exactly is in their chemistry to give them such fighting power that we do not have.

I dated 2 men who never related their childhood cold sores with my HSV so put me at risk because I forgot to ask the important question... Do you get or have you Ever gotten a cold sore? This virus is about ignorance in all ways.

Thanks K_Sock,

Yeah I'm curious about these so called asymptomatic carriers, is there anyone on here (or do you know anyone that is positive of either HSV 1 or 2, but has never shown any symptoms? Not even a cold sore, let alone genital?

Thank you for the response, are you aware if this person who was 100% asymptomatic ever had cold sores as a child?

You're never gonna get a 100% accurate answer... It's just their word that they'd never had anything.. I can certainly believe that this individual mentioned by @SureWhyNot truly did believe he had nothing..but whether that was via ignorance (I.e; nothing obviously hsv) or actually zero symptoms is something we'll just never know.

Since he passed the virus, clearly it's been active.

Don't know anyone asymptomatic for HSV-1 or HSV-2. No such thing as hep 1 or 2. Hep is short for Hepatitis.

The people I mentioned had a very long relationship and then split up. One of them did the human thing and had a one nighter. Several months later the couple reunited. In a short time the partner had an OB. They tested + for HSV2. The giver has never had any indications of the virus and last speaking that was over 15yrs since that happened. I have lost touch in the last 2yrs so don't know if anything has changed. Truly, for all I know it could have been a childhood forgotten memory but the way this one played out makes me think one of them has a kick ass immune system, the other, not so much.

Medical knowledge in the 50s doubled every 50 years. But guess how fast the knowledge is doubling now? 1 year. Cures are coming. This is why there is a worldwide debate on healthcare. Some want to own your health others want the cures for free. You being desperate will trample on the next person to get it whereas someone else will hope the cure is free for all.  The fight isn't for a cure anymore it's for who owns the cure. The people or the elite. With medical knowledge doubling every year and soon every 6 months with the assistance of AI a cure will be ready by 2025.  Finally the west has competition who wants to be the world's leader; China. They want to cure diseases because they want rid of capitalism and religion. May the winner have it all.

This isn't some 1940s crime detective novel mate! We don't have process of elimination, we have active diagnosis. But to hell with that. You do not have to prove anything to doctors. They're just a bunch of clowns with meaningless tests! You're the man, you make the decisions. Whether you think you have herpes, or whether you think you don't, you're right. Be a man, be confident, if you have HSV-2 then own up to it. Stop camping around at doctors offices. Stride right back to that girl in your loosest jocks with lots of stretch room for those swollen gonads. Slam open the bedroom door and announce you're here to show her what a night with real man feels like, minus Trojans!

To answer your question, I have been living with pain and burning in my penis for a year now.  My symptoms started within 48 hours of attempted sex with someone who has HSV2. Doctors can’t figure it out.  I’m 90% certain HSV2 is the culprit.  All my issues started directly after the exposure.  Itching, tingling, constipation, nerve burning, testicle pain and back pain. And they all come and go. I only got a large bump in my pubic area days after the exposure.  A large amount of people with herpes don’t get typical looking lesions, so you can’t base it on that.   Hopefully you find your answer.  I pretty much have mine but have to prove it to my doctors by way of elimination.

OMG if I had only known that 5 years ago... doctors have no clue of this.
