Hi , I am new to all this and I felt like I needed support .. I found out I had it 4 weeks ago during a routine dr appt. I was In such shock cause I never had any signs. the guy I was seeing told me a month or so previous that he got it from some one night stand .  I am not going through the depression anymore . and I am no longer in denial . I did get tested again to be sure but by then I was used the reality. I felt a little better when my dr said it's more common than I think . I think I am more afraid of the rejection and how my sex life will go going forward.

This does seem to happen quite a bit.

What test did you have that revealed herpes, do you have the exact tests and results?

Yes I did a blood test 2 in fact and 2 different times by 2 different doctors. and it confirms I have hsv 2. I guess I was in denial the first time

The type of test you had and the actual results are important, do you have this information?

And what does it say? You are most probably looking for whether the test is IgG or IgM or maybe both. Then there will be a number for each test?

How have you found dating since? I haven't brought myself to yet, I've just sort of kept all my hormones under raps since finding out over a year ago. Life is shit. :(

Yeah and the stigma hit me pretty hard since I'm originally from Asia and we don't have sex ed or STD education so the regret and self-hating are as bad as stigma. Hoping is the only way to get me out of suicidal thoughts. I know that a lot has been done and I'm glad. I just hope they continue with the hsv research instead of abandoning it cuz it's not life-threatening and I also hope that the big pharma conspiracy isn't real.

@Dvm, he says this to almost everyone.  Best ignore his bad advice

Thx so much. However HSV can affect the trigeminal nerve/from post herpetic neuralgia and can actually cause all these symptoms. Some people, once affected can have short term symptoms,  while others have sporadic flare ups and some are permanently affected. Gabapentin for trigeminal neuralgia, prescribed by my neurologist, did help me for some time,  but I'm glad to be off it.  Hope my post helps someone w similar issues who havent gotten help from primary care Dr.

@Dvm you can be assured that HSV is not the cause of these issues. As you have found, it’s likely a spinal issue and it sounds like you have found some help. Stick with that.
