just diagnosed and new to hsv....

Hi Everyone :).

It is nice to read through posts on these forums and not feel alone. I have been tested during my first outbreak and will know tomorrow if it is type 1 (we had oral sex only) or type 2 (no sex, but did have skin to skin contact) based on my culture results. My ex husband was unfaithful and my past bloodwork was negative for both 1 and 2 (Igg). I have a new and current boyfriend who does infrequently get cold sores orally. I am very aware of asymptomatic shedding and proceeded with what i thought was calculated risk. Getting HSV has always been a fear of mine, and now i am coming to terms with it. From what i have read, many people have hsv and are never aware of it. If i test positive for hsv1, i am thinking it was from oral sex and if i test for hsv2, he may have had it but was unaware and he will go for an Igg test.

It is scary and painful and new, but from what i have read, and being in the health care field myself, it is more common than we think and facing it with knowledge, and gaining understanding, and remaining positive is so important :).

Seems plausable its hsv1. And thats not so bad.  Typically less outbreaks and less shedding.  You are spot on in terms of knowledge... makes a huge difference and this site has been very helpful with that.  You will be ok

Awwww, thank you, you are very kind and sweet :). I feel like it is hard with all of the information on the internet to pick out what is truth. The 3 different medical professionals i have dealt with thus far have had all different ideas/information on HSV (my primary gyn, and 2 clinic docs). The only worry i have that it may be 2 is that we did have some skin to skin contact of genitals (no sex though).

Don't be scared, as the virus itself is pretty harmless. Neither hsv-1 or 2 is worse than the other, so don't worry too much about getting diagnosed with one over the other. They are both super common and manageable. It is a shock at first, and as someone who has always been paranoid about viruses, I can sympathize. But after 3 years with it, I can honestly tell you that I'm the same person I was before I got it, but with a lot more knowledge and compassion for others. Keep your head up and keep living life!

Medical knowledge in the 50s doubled every 50 years. But guess how fast the knowledge is doubling now? 1 year. Cures are coming. This is why there is a worldwide debate on healthcare. Some want to own your health others want the cures for free. You being desperate will trample on the next person to get it whereas someone else will hope the cure is free for all.  The fight isn't for a cure anymore it's for who owns the cure. The people or the elite. With medical knowledge doubling every year and soon every 6 months with the assistance of AI a cure will be ready by 2025.  Finally the west has competition who wants to be the world's leader; China. They want to cure diseases because they want rid of capitalism and religion. May the winner have it all.

This isn't some 1940s crime detective novel mate! We don't have process of elimination, we have active diagnosis. But to hell with that. You do not have to prove anything to doctors. They're just a bunch of clowns with meaningless tests! You're the man, you make the decisions. Whether you think you have herpes, or whether you think you don't, you're right. Be a man, be confident, if you have HSV-2 then own up to it. Stop camping around at doctors offices. Stride right back to that girl in your loosest jocks with lots of stretch room for those swollen gonads. Slam open the bedroom door and announce you're here to show her what a night with real man feels like, minus Trojans!

To answer your question, I have been living with pain and burning in my penis for a year now.  My symptoms started within 48 hours of attempted sex with someone who has HSV2. Doctors can’t figure it out.  I’m 90% certain HSV2 is the culprit.  All my issues started directly after the exposure.  Itching, tingling, constipation, nerve burning, testicle pain and back pain. And they all come and go. I only got a large bump in my pubic area days after the exposure.  A large amount of people with herpes don’t get typical looking lesions, so you can’t base it on that.   Hopefully you find your answer.  I pretty much have mine but have to prove it to my doctors by way of elimination.

OMG if I had only known that 5 years ago... doctors have no clue of this.
