HSV-1 outbreaks in genital area, will it come back?

Hi guys new member here. I was diagnosed with type 1 herpes last week. My symptoms were painful burning whilst urinating and discharge. My doctor has given me a weeks worth of pills, and 4 days in they're beginning to work. My doctor said it was very unlikely for my symptoms to return. Zero to one, apparently. Is anyone in a similar situation to me? And if so have you had another outbreak since your first in this specific area? Thanks.

I was just diagnosed in mid December with GHSV-1 and my doc has said the same, that i may never have another outbreak. I do see that some people do have subsequent outbreaks and i guess it is dependent upon each person.  I am not on suppressive therapy, but am taking vitamins and supplements and have streamlined my diet to be more Lysine friendly. Fingers and toess crossed for no further outbreaks :)

What were you diagnosed with type 1 or 2?  If 1 yes generally you shld not have many obs. You do need to maintain healthy immune system so you can suppress the virus. Its trial and error really.  See how you go

Hi & welcome. I'm still in the process of figuring out if I have 1 or 2. The person who gave it to me claimes he has 1 but I'm not sure if I can trust him. I had one major OB at the begging. I still get some cold sores and tiny bumps on places like my upper thigh. This has been since Sept. My biggest problem is the burning nerve pain that occurs in my vagina. I'm guessing it's nerve damage. I hope yours doesn't get to this point. I just started taking 25mg of Amitriplyne so I'm praying that helps me. Does anyone else wuth HSV 1 get this type of pain?

Constant tingling, burning. Ghsv1 although you will be told it's not possible.   Cannot understand how this shitty virus is still around... I'd rather have every other std at the same time than this crap. Meds for those!

Brokenforever how like have you had it? Are you on suppressive therapy? Did you change your diet? I agree this virus is awful.

Hey! Almost a month in and I totally understand what you mean about the burning, tingling sensation. Its like a light sun burn. Is this constant for you? Or does it come and go? Thanks.

For me this is/was the case.  I'm interested in discharge and how your doc diagnosed it. Discharge and burning while urinating point to something other than HSV in my mind such as urethritis or prostatitis, not herpes.  Herpes in your urethra is pretty rare and can be extremely painful while urinating.
