So many symptoms...is this really HSV2? (Long)

So five weeks ago I had a stupid drunken encounter with a girl from a bar I was at. She straddled me and kissed me and eventually there was brief penetration, maybe less than 10 seconds, underneath her dress. There was also some fondling. Once I realized how stupid I was being I stopped and when I went to zip up I realized there was blood and mucus from her period on me.  I immediately freaked out thinking STDs and HIV!

Three days later as I was going to get into the shower some white discharge came out of my penis. My penis began to burn and I started having frequent urination. I also had a slimy feeling in my anus. I waited a few days while this continued before going and getting tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia at nine days post exposure. All came back clear.

About a week after this started, and 10 days post exposure, I became very dizzy in a group setting and almost couldn't speak. I almost passed out but gathered myself and a few moments later had some buzzing feeling in my butt. When I got home I had developed some red bumps on my butt. I have some acne  in the area already so I wasn't sure about this. They hurt but we're not terribly sore. They could not be squeezed but scabbed over after a couple of days and went away.

The next morning I woke up with swollen tonsils and a swollen uvula. My throat was not sore however. I went to the doctor and he looked at the bumps on my butt and said that he thought it was a heat rash or acne. He swabbed my throat for strep and it was negative.

I told him about my concern of HsV2 and he prescribed Acyclovir 3×400 mg per day.  He doubted that I had anything to worry about with the bumps but said Acyclovir would not hurt anything if I turn out to be negative.

I went and finished the STD panel the next day about two weeks out for HIV DNA PCR, hepatitis, HSV one and two, and syphalis. All came back negative. I know that it was too early for a definitive HSV test but better negative than not.

A few days later after starting the Acyclovir I got a bump on my upper lip near the skin line. I thought it was a pimple or ingrown hair so I squeezed it and just clear liquid and blood came out.  It scabbed over and went away in a few days.  I also felt some swelling and soreness under the inside of my lip but never really developed a sore.

A three weeks post exposure and still having burning on my penis, frequent urination, and burning in my anus with mucus discharge I went back to the doctor. He did a prostate exam where my prostate was very sensitive to the touch. He diagnosed me with prostatitis and prescribe me Lexofloxacin.  I also convinced him to refill my Acyclovir.  He thinks my issues are anxiety related and prostatitis.

I could not handle the Lexofoxacin after three days and stopped using it. It was making me exhausted.

At around four weeks post exposure the burning on my penis and frequent urination subsided.  Now at 5 weeks I still have burning in my anus and mucus discharge.  I also have developed back pain neck stiffness slight headaches and twitching in my left eye. My vision is also somewhat blurry.

Is it really possible that I have all of these symptoms, including some of the rarest ones for HSV2?  Before this I just had a physical and was really healthy.  I'm getting tested again next week at 6 weeks but can someone tell me if it's really possible that all these symptoms came and are lasting this long after such a brief exposure?!?  Help!

If you had an igg Test 3 weeks post exposure will not show up positive.  It takes 12 weeks to develop antibodies

Yes I know now.  I'm going again next week. Of course online testing services tell you 9-90 days is the sufficient window when they're selling the test.  I really went ahead with it at when I did for the HIV DNA PCR window.  I really thought I had Chlomydia when I scheduled the testing before the bumps developed.

Regarding my symptoms...has anyone had discharge at your initial outbreak?

How about swollen uvula in the throat?

The swollen uvula, dizziness and eye issues seem to be symptoms when people have compromised immune systems which I don't think I have.

I just had a physical before the encounter and everything came back fine on my blood work. It's so weird to me to have all of these symptoms that aren't typical and to be in the middle of a 5 week outbreak apparently.

In terms of seroconversion, people commence showing positive no sooner than 3 weeks. 50% reveal positive 4 weeks after infection and then 10% per week until 90% is reached at week 8, the remainder take 12-16 weeks.

Herpes is as herpes does. In most every case it will do what it does best, cause lesions within a few days of infection.

It may be very hard to believe, but your doctor is right about your anxiety. It is the most amazing thing, one's mind. This has resulted in pelvic stress for you, tender and disruptive prostate and stressed nerves in the region that are probably the source of the burning and irritation.

Many men go through this sort of an episode and it is often stress induced. If you read up (just a little, this is the internet after all!) on prostadynia you'll see what I mean.

It is interesting that people think when they have symptoms it might be something like chlamydia and so on and not good old fashioned bacteria and yeast. Remember a key reason to test for chlamydia, gonorrhoea etc. is because they do not cause symptoms in most people and generally not immediately. Always a good idea to test for them at the 2 week mark.

What you have regarding throat issues are not related to herpes, these are not the 'flu' like symptoms being referred to.

Thanks for the response.  I know herpes is a different beast for everyone, I just can't understand how I'm having a lot of these symptoms.  I look them up to see if they're herpes related and I read that they are but "rarely".  Like if my rectal symptoms are fissures I'm not seeing blood or tears when I inspect the area.  Also that would have been a first symptom on day 3.

Dizziness and stiff neck are symptoms if it goes to the brain.  Again very rare.

Eye problems would be if it went to the eyes, again rare.

So I got HSV2 from sexual intercourse (brief) and had it go to the mouth, eyes and brain!?!?

Im at a loss and hope you're right about stress, anxiety and prostatitis!

I think you're answering your own question. The odds of any issues you mention are minuscule let alone 3 to 5 of these occurring at once???

Herpes does not work from symptom menu, few viruses and other medical issues do. They work in a hierarchy, downstream from lesions. If there are no lesions, then the chances of the issue being herpes becomes negligible and the probability of other ailments becomes extremely high.

There are many, many more plausible explanations. The main one being that you are stressed.

There's a good chance that you acquired HSV2, and a good chance you won't test positive (it happens sometimes for those who get very atypical symptoms). What else would cause discharge, neuro symptoms, swollen lymph nodes, and start 9 days after a risky encounter? Contrary to Wilso, prostatitis doesn't cause discharge, and anxiety doesn't cause slurred speech and a stiff neck, but primary HSV infection can. It's pretty clear to me. Several months after infection, I had rectal issues, and I have eye twitching now (yes, I'm confirmed pos by IgG and Western Blot). Twitching is not uncommon at all among HSV sufferers. Just do a search on this forum for twitching and you'll get tons of hits.

This post is unreal. Better change to win in lottery.

@Joe1976that is exactly how I feel about it.  I understand the odds and why my doctor thinks anxiety is driving this but I can't ignore the reality of my body.  Then I think, shouldn't the Acyclovir be helping more if HSV2?

@elnino I can't understand for the life of me how all this is happening and like I told my doctor, I either had like 5 things happen to me at once causing issues or one thing that covers all symptoms which is HSV2.

This has been unbelievably depressing.  I know contact was brief but I worry she was shedding due to the menstrual cycle with obvious blood involved.  I'm really freaking out and appreciate opinions.

My friend, I've just been desperate for the last 30 days because I started with headache in the back of the head, dizziness, discomfort in the ears and some nervous spasms in my body. I do not know why I have all these symptoms, in the genital nothing feels, I had neuralgia in the anus, but after 8 days nothing more. My problem is the symptoms in the head that do not go away, only decrease and then come back.

Also, do any of you have an opinion on stopping the Acyclovir?  Does it make a difference during testing?  I've seen mixed information.

@Joe1976 you seem knowledgeable about HSV2.  One question I have that I haven't seen answered a lot is what happens to people on reoccurrences.  Is it mostly sore?  Do people get burning urination again?

Also, 5 weeks after initial outbreak would I still be highly contagious because I'm still having strong symptoms?

You would be shedding 3months for quite a lot. Burning urination for males uncommon. Relax sores would be at point of contact.

Also I stopped Acyclovir as of yesterday to see what happens.  Today my left leg is numb and my left foot has a burning sensation.  My rectal symptoms seem somewhat better which is weird.

If I'm positive (I unfortunately think I am) this woman must have had the most aggressive strand know to mankind.

Would they likely come back on my butt since that is where bumps were previously?

Your initial bumps would not be on your butt but recurrent could be. Also first bumps would have most likely on your shaft. If you think there is some in your urethra it would not be just burning urination. Your meatus would be badly swollen and red with constant pain for a week or two. You already chose this path so all you can do is take igg or wb at 4 months. Go get swab if you think something is hsv blister. Everyone reacts differently and most common symptom is nothing or just blisters. 4month igg is 95% accurate but positive swab is 100% accurate diagnosis. Dont be too hard on yourself. Freaking around gets you nowhere.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. If the girl had a herpies sore at the time you're very likely to have got it even if it was a quick experience. My giver had a sore on his penis. He assured me it was nothing , I gave him oral sex for maybe 30 seconds and he rubbed me for maybe 10 seconds. It's very possible :(. I also test negative by blood test.  I have many odd symptoms as well including sore throat, skin issues and nerve pain. It's a very difficult thing to go through. I'm sorry it's happening to you.

@soSurrealNow, What are your symptoms? Are you carrier hsv 1 or 2? Oral or genital? Describe the details of the symptoms.

It is hard to fathom :( I'm so sorry. My primary doctor does believe it have it. i don't get any actual sores just red pimple lik marks do I'm also unable to be swabbed. I'm sux months in, things do seem to get a little better but it's still really hard. I'm unable to have sex because it causes extreme nerve pain in my vulva. Guys don't seem to have this problem with no being able to have sex so you should be ok. I'm on daily Valtrex now so maybe that's something you can look into. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. @WilsoInAus could you kindly have a look :) also how long does it typically take for herpes blisters to develop into sores

Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.
