Please help. How can I get a proper diagnosis for a cracked butt crack?

I'm so sorry, I don't know where to post this and have no one else to ask. I was hoping you guys could help and I hope it's okay that I ask this here.

I already know I have hsv2 because I was swabbed back in June of 2015. The thing is, I have been dealing with this chronic anal itching/burning that comes and goes for a very long time now, and I don't know if it's related to hsv or if it's something else entirely. It feels like my butt crack is cracked.

I have a feeling it's either a fissure or some kind of fungus or yeast. I have been way too embarrased to pursue seeing a Dr for a long time but now I am fed up and am ready to swallow my pride and get some help.

The problem is that I called a few dermatologist offices today but they don't have any openings till June! I made the appt anyway but... this itchy /burney thing comes and goes so I have no idea if it will be there when I go for the appt.

I have a feeling it will be healed by then and the Dr will think I'm nuts and tell me it looks fine. I need to get an appt while it's still flared up

So I'm wondering how can I get a diagnosis? Would an urgent care place swab my butt? Should I ask for it be swabbed? Idk? What should I do?

*I should add that I have medicaid so that makes things alot harder to be taken seriously.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sorry your feeling like this. I have hsv 2 I always feel something in my anus like a burning when I investigate I find nothing.  For me I think its part of the nerves impacted by this virus. I have had neuralgia in my legs butt. Have you found anything is it a crack or ?sore? Or? What seems to help me is exercise makes it seem better.  Though today I feel a sore coming on down there. I have found that coconut oil is awesome gives much relief. Not sure your male or female.  But maybe go to your primary dr whi can assist you. Keep us posted

Genital hsv includes the anus so its possibly related.  If its not in your anus try aloe vera gel.  Can a normal dr not take a look?

Thank you for the reply, @LillianPanos. I can't really tell what it looks like,  to be honest, cause I'm afraid to spread my butt cheeks too much, lol. I fo use coconut oil though and it usually helps tremendously. But this time it seems like it's not going to heal.

I would go to a gp but I don't really trust my gp. She laughed at me for the last thing I was concerned about and was supposed to get back to me about an mri referral and never did. I really don't like her at all. I had a great gp before but she up and left a few months ago.

I am thinking about calling this urgent care place I just found on the internet. They treat womens issues and rashes and stds. So I'm thinking they would know how to diagnose it. I don't think they accept my insurance but I'll see if I could scrape up enough cash to go soon.

Yes, my first outbreak was on my butt , but it was on my butt cheek and I saw the blisters. This feels a little different and is in a different area (right in the butt crack) but I'm also assuming it could be related. I just don't know but I would like to know. I have some aloe vera gel at home. I will give that a try tonight. Thank you for the reply too, @Lisajd

HSV can definitely be in your butt crack and appear as a sore or fissue and can be hard to tell apart from an anal fissure or hemorrhoid. If there is something to swab, that's your best bet!

I use aloe vera gel also... when i use coconut oil I mix it with a little of tea tree oil...The urgent care that works on womens issues sounds great!!! or maybe planned parenthood, not sure about that?

Thank you!

Hmmm, I'm not sure if there's anything to swab. Would it have to be an actual blister?

Can a Dr swab it, even if there is not a blister,  to test for a fungus or yeast? What kind of test should I ask for to determine what it is, if it isn't hsv

Thanks for the tip! The aloe I have us called Lily of the desert, aloe vera gellie. Is that ok, you think?

Planned parenthood is a great idea! I wouldn't feel so weird having them examine my butt crack. Lol. And they accept my insurance! I may call them instead! Thanks!

Oh..I remember what I was going to say now - the reason I have a feeling this is not hsv is because sometimes it takes forever to heal. This last episode has been going on for like 3, 3 1/2 weeks now. Is an established hsv outbreak capable of lasting that long?

Thanks so much for all the help so far guys!!!

Hey @Lcj987 and welcome to the website. You can be sure that isn't HSV-2, looks nothing like it. It is much more likely to be folliculitis or inflamed fordyce spots.

Hey @JackThrowAway herpes causes an outbreak where it enters the body first and maybe a progressive spread. If it doesn't cause an outbreak at the entry site then it won't cause one elsewhere, it also won't 'jump' upon infection - it would be more likely that the lesions are continuous from the penis to the anus. Nevertheless, testing trumps symptoms or any interpretation of symptoms. The correct conclusive result arises when: you have a positive swab; or An IgG HSV-2 level over 3.5 (Herpeselect test).

Slept with someone unprotected, roughly 2 weeks ago now. I felt generally unwell the couple of days after but I’d been drinking the whole weekend and didn’t have much sleep either of the days of that weekend so put it down to that. 6 days after I noticed these spots appear on the shaft of my penis. Along with symptoms of discomfort in my shaft in the couple of days prior to them appearing. No pain when urinating at all that I have noticed. They don’t hurt, itch or tingle and they don’t have fluid in from what I can see or feel if I squeeze them and have never burst? I went to a sexual health clinic to get checked up, they took bloods to do a full test and looked at the spots but said they saw nothing that concerned them but I’m not sure about that, any advice? The smaller spots under the shaft are just follicles I had diagnosed years ago and non-sti related.

She tested positive for HSV2. No, there was nothing of that sort in that area.   However I also have ulcerative colitis so I’m on medication that makes me immunosuppressed. I have been bleeding a bit when I pass stools during the time of redness, so I’m unsure if I’m getting a flare from the colitis (from all the stress of everything) or if it’s due to the virus making it’s way to an already inflamed area and popping up as blisters that I can’t see and hence the bleeding.    I had two equivocal results (at 4 weeks and 6 weeks) that then went to a positive result (7 weeks after exposure). Combine that with some flu symptoms, redness, tingling etc. makes me feel it’s conclusive that this points to a hsv2 infection.
