Hi All,

I was diagnosed with gential herpes in 2014 sadly after a night of protected sex- go figure right? Anyways, my initial OB appeared to be the 'standard' OB. I had a sore, painful, it oozed a little but never scabbed up and disappeared after a week or so. I hadn't visited my obgyn so I wasn't I meds but it came back a day later. I eventually saw my doc (I knew I had herpes but I was in denial) so that I can get Valtrex. I was assured the sore would go away but it never really did. I stopped taking Valtrex after a week of using it.

The sore disappeared but showed up on the opposite side of my initial OB. I was put on suppresive therapy w/ valtrex and even acyclovir but nothing worked- I even had my dosages increased. I decided to give natural remedies a try. I used tea tree, oregano oil, colloidal silver, hyrogene peroxide, dsmo, you name it. Nothing worked.

I was tested for HIV- negative. After a few months the sore went away. I read your first OB is always the worst but two days after the sore went away, I started getting these paper cut like fissures on my vagina. I assumed they were herpes related so I went back to the old natural remedies and incorporated lysine, garlic, zinc, burdock, olive oil extract- you name it, I've tried it.

Three years later, Im still HIV negative and have never gone more than three days without herpes related symptoms. Whether it's vaginal itching, itching on my lower back,  sheding, paper cut like fissures, vaginal discharge or the sores- I ALWAYS have some sort of symptom. I noticed the sores are no longer visible tho. I can feel them but I cant see them, they're not nearly as painful as before and less frequent, but they don't ooze, bleed or anything. I can just feel them there.

Has anyone else dealt with this? I would also like to mention that my viral count was pretty high once I received my results, it believe it was anywhere from 10-14.

Is this really herepes??

I've had prodromes - tingling on my lips, swollen feeling, itchy genital, burning sensation... without OBs.  Were you actually tested or maybe just visual?  Are you watching your diet?  Antivirals don't work for me either.  I was googling virus mutation earlier and how they supposedly become resistant to acyclovir.  I have no science background and didn't have time to google every single terminology on the article that I don't understand:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC549244/

I did quickly scan it and seems like they need further tests.  But, what I'm trying to say is what you're describing sounds like herpes (I have had paper cuts as well in the past) and sounds like you're experiencing prodrome.  As far as antivirals, not everyone benefit from them, based on personal experience.

Hey! Sorry you're experiencing this. Just came here to say I'm having the same issues. I'll go maybe 5-7 days without cuts, fissures etc and my doctor is stumped. Blood work showed positive for HSV type 1. Negative for type 2. Been taking daily Valtrex, tried switching to Famvir. Nothing's worked. I just recently switched my birth control to see if that helps, not looking promising yet. I just take lots of epsom salt baths and try to relax and not stress.

Hang in there!

Your story is almost identical to mine, except I'm a guy lol. I've been taking 1 gram Valtrex daily for 3 months now. No visible sores, but every other symptom is present. And daily.  Itchiness, tailbone pain, sharp pinprick feelings that have me feeling like a herpes blister appeared, but nothing ever shows on the skin. It's very frustrating. Valtrex has helped stop visible outbreaks, which I'm grateful for, but I still deal with the other symptoms, all day everyday. I think some people's bodies may just be more sensitive to the virus than others

I'm with you guys.  I am virtually never without some symptom, even though there may be no actual outbreak.  This weird "nerve" feeling is the main one and it is all over my body (or inside it) all the time in some subtle way.  The last two weeks now, I have had lower abdominal/pelvic pressure, like a sick sort of pain.  I have been to a couple of doctors but they don't know what is causing it.  This is a new one on me, and I wonder if anyone has experienced this before?

oldgal, I haven't had that type of a stomach symptom, but everyone is different.. Mine is mostly itchy, tingly, or pain where the OBs are or have been and fatigue, chills during a bad one.
