Hi

First of all, im a 40 year old man from Denmark, so please ignore the misspelling :-)

I got this read "rash" at the buttom of my glans of penis + it somteimes seems like the skin on my shaft is very sensitive/thin. Its been almost 5 moths since possible submission (only oralsex). I have had neurological pain on my innerthigs (syill have it), occasionel lymphpain, pain in my scrotum, and almost constantly irretation i my groin.

I have been testet for ALL kinds of sexual disseases, but all negative. I have bben bloodtestet for HSV and i turned out positive for HSV1 and HSV3,

I am really confused, because my doctor has given up on me,

Does it look like Herpes ? I have never had any blisters they could swab from.

Hi Tjumba

Welcome to the site and hopefully others will respond here as well.

If you only had oral sex than if this is herpes it would most likely be HSV1 (if it was from this exposure) However, if you have tested positive for HSV1 it would be useful to know if that was from an IgG blood test, and if so what the values were?

I think you can rule out HSV2 (I am not sure why you were tested for HSV3 are you sure you don't mean HSV2?) but the question you are facing is: Is your HSV1 result as a result of this exposure or is it from a previous cold sore (oral)  exposure? The IgG values could help to at least give some indication here if you could let us know here.

It is worth noting that there are lots of  things that could cause this inflammation so don't assume it is herpes as yet!

Regards

Lucy

Thank you for the respons Lucy

I am not sure they do the same kind of testing i Denmark, like they do in the states. I did get a bloodtest for HSV in generelle, and it turned out positiv for HSV 1&3 (cold sore and zoster) wich only indicates that at in some part of my life, I have had chickenpox (I did have that as a child) and a cold sore (dont remember having those as a child) I was not given any numbers (igG) what so ever.

This has been very stresfull 5 months, resulting in a mild depression, and i used to be a healthy Young man. That constant irritation and pain that reminds me that something is not as it was supposed to be. I tried a 5 days vaciclovir treatment (5 x 200 mg a Day) without any remarkebel result.

You where saying something about, it could be other things, that could cause the inflamation ?

Hi Tjumba

It is possible that the HSV1 could indeed be a genital infection as well as oral, the levels of the antibodies found in the blood  test are the best way to indicate if this is a new infection (and could therefore be related to your genital symptoms) or if the antibody levels are high it would suggest that you have indeed had a long standing oral HSV1 infection. If you have a long standing oral infection then this would be unlikely to be herpes as you would have developed a sufficient antibody response to prevent this from happening.

I think there is a condition called balantis  and sometimes thrush (yeast) can cause inflammation.

I am in the UK and we have similar problems in that they do not tell you the test results other than positive or negative, sometimes if you go to a private clinic they give better information. It would however be worth asking your health provider if they have any more details of your test result.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will offer you more advice on here too.

I'm so sorry that you feel so down about it. Do come into the chat room and talk to others as it can help a lot. We are here to support you

Take care

Lucy

Hi Tjumba

Maybe you should not ask what to be tested for at all and simply ask the question 'as a doctor what do you think this is?'

Sometimes fixation on one diagnosis can lead you down a long path to nowhere and believe me I know, I've been down it!

You could however ask if they have any detail about your HSV test: what type of test was it and can you see the result sheet to see if you can get the antibody levels?

Take care

Lucy

I Will talk to my doctor on wednesday, and I will try not to direct her:)

What about the bloodtest numbers, what should the numbers be for a positiv outcome ?

Do Balantis cause my neurologic issues as i described earlyer ?

kind regards

Hey tjumba,

I don't want to alarm u n say it could be this or that, u r just going to continue to worry. U need to get the sore tested at the doctor to find out exactly what it is. Take some pain relief n try some ice if its burning. Coconut oil is really good if u have some available.

BTW even though ur sick I think u have a nice dick. Try to hang in there mate.

Well thank you Nice, that put a smile on my face :-)

I´m going to se a neurologist the 10 of May, hopefully he can make some clearance on my symptoms.

I hope you will get better and find cause! it must be frustrating. To me that looks some sort of zoon balanitis or lichen sclerosus, there must be dermatologist that can help you with this problem as this is just guessing here.

Well, I went to se the doctor, yesterday, because i felt like my penis was on fire, and had a red rash on the glans of my penis. She tought it looked strange and did a swab + a biopsy to test for balantis. I will get the result in a couple of days.

She put me on a 7 days valaciclovir (3x2 pills a day) and i got some creme (Brentan) to rub on my penis (2 times a day). Allready after 8 hours, my rash was allmost gone.

1) If it is Herpes, would Brentan make it go away within 8 hours ??

2) I still constantly have nerve issues, that is really irritating me. My doctor says that,if it is herpes, then it would only affect one side of the body (ussualy the left side) But I feel it in both my arms and legs (Burning/tingling sensation) What are your oppinion ??

Hi Tjumba

From what I am aware Brentan is for thrush so it is likely that that is your culprit

Take care

Lucy

Sorry I should qualify... by thrush I mean a yeast infection in case you are not familiar with that term

I think your situation is looking good as you can already rule hsv2 out if im correct and cream is helping. If swab is negative and problem solved you will be happy folk :) it sure not look like hsv.

with the info so far:

its likely that you have a co-infection (yeast and also hsv-1).

when you have a hsv  outbreak ( I would say  in this case hsv-1), it disturbs the bacteria and yeast balance in  the genital zone, specially under the foreskin , and then propitiates a yeast infection.

You should cut sugars(because it could be candida) and also dry your genitals carefully after taking a shower every day.

if you dont control hsv , you will have the yeast there , and having the yeast there will allow  more hsv outbreaks.

so basically ,you must control both.
