Likelihood of having herpes?

Hi,

Would appreciate some advice. I have anxiety and particularly health anxiety. On night out I tend to relax too much because Im so uptight sober. I kissed around 6 people briefly! I know, 6?!? I can't remember much from the night but I would have not kissed someone if I saw an obvious coldsore. I was wondering what would be the likelihood. I know primary outbreaks are more common in children and rare in adults. It's day three and not a lot of symptoms. Burning/tingling around my mouth which surprisingly fades when I have a diazapem. No sore throat, swollen glands or headache. My teeth ache a bit but I grit my teeth when I'm stressed

Does having chickenpox when you're little build up a stronger immune system to avoid other strains of herpes?

Is it true that symptoms show usually around 2 days to 2 weeks after encounter?

I plan to take a blood test in three months, to determine if I actually have them this time. Last one I took was negative for herpes even though I had a wild embarrassing kissing episode prior to that.

Also, is it true a vaccine is being created for herpes. If i don't have herpes, I would really like the vaccine as this phobia really takes over my life at times!

This is just issue in your head as only way to not get hsv for sure is to abstain from any intimate contacts. I suggest you study subject a little and if you happen to get it at some point of your life it will not be so big deal. Meanwhile do not test your self if there is no symptoms as it really is pointless and causes just anxiety over nothing.

It's just really hard to tell someone with anxiety not to worry. I appreciate your reply though :) it is a big deal to me, a real big deal and I don't know why? Do you happen to know the answers to my questions? X

I struggle with anxiety disorder as well and I'm in the mental health field. What helps me is knowing 2/3 of the world population has some form of hsv...somewhere between 80-90% don't know they have one form or the other (or both). In the grand scheme of things it's really not that big of a deal for most people! Eat healthy, take natural supplements to support your immune system and be as safe as possible! But live your life without fear! I know it's really hard, trust me but most of your anxiety and mine is all mental and not always reality. You're going to be just fine, love!

I don't think having chickenpox as a kid offers any ammunity to hsv1 and hsv2.

Incubation period is typically 2-20 days but can lay dormant for years (don't freak out)!

and yes, there are a couple of vaccines in the works! Google Theravax and Genocea.

Hope this was helpful!

Thank you so much for your reply, it is nice to find someone who relates! Some people have got very frustrated with me because they simply don't understand. Thank you for the vaccine info, definitely check that out!

Just seems to be that it isn't that contagious, I've kissed a far few people in my life and the test came back negative last time. Just don't understand when you research it says it's very contagious. Surprised I didn't get it then is all?

I really wish I could be casual about these types of things, it seems very related to my sti freak out. I was once convinced I have hiv and my body started creating the symptoms?

I’m going to force him to get tested ! Thanks for your help !

@EssenceL25 there really isn't a question mark around the source, it's your latest partner. The median time from infection to an outbreak of lesions upon initial infection is 4 days.  The only thing that isn't certain is the type I suggest.

I asked if it was hsv 1 or 2 and the doctor said it was Hsv2. I’m not sure i just asked him when he was tested last he said this year I said I think we should go test together and he agreed . I’m going to bring it up again cause I really need to know if he gave this to me I wasn’t sure since it was so close to my previous relationship.

@EssenceL25 then it is all beyond reasonable doubt that the current partner is the source. A 'perfect' fit in terms of timing, symptoms and swab. It may be though that the type is not technically known. Culture swabs are very often not typed and just assumed to be HSV-2 if taken from a genital location. If you received oral sex in the days leading into 7 March then it is 50/50 as to whether this is HSV-1 or HSV-2. You could contact your doctor and confirm if the swab was actually typed (which is a second test where fluorescent antibodies for HSV-1 and HSV-2 are added and see which one 'glows').  If that test wasn't done then you do not know type. If you have oral HSV-1 yourself (cold sores) then this will be HSV-2. Does your partner have oral HSV-1? It is somewhat strange for him not to rush and test - many people have a 'reaction' if they truly do not know their status and have concerns that you infected them etc. (not initially rational of course). This indicates he may know his status - or maybe he just isn't simply the sharpest tool in the shed!?

I had flu like symptoms and ulcers on my vagina . They did a culture and I tested positive for hsv2. I asked my partner to get tested he agreed but I’m not sure if he will cause he hasn’t said anything else about it.
