Does anybody know if the Thiel announcement happened? Can't see anything reported other than the original SJR article. Still not convinced it's legit.

I've checked Josh Blooms blog to see if he had an update on the announcement but nothing! Ugh I just need an update! :(

Happy for all the people who are good candidates for this! I however don't think that I am; type 1 & type 2...little to no symptoms.

Lucky girl, little to no symptoms. I am not eligible either although I have symptoms all the time, as I have hsv 1 :-( it is on a good way though, very happy about it!!!

It should work for you too and prevent you from acquiring hsv2!

Yes, I meant I'm not eligible for clinical trial, but otherwise I will go for hsv 2 vaccine if available (I don't want to wait 10+ years for hsv 1 even if it'd be ideal to have vaccine specifically for type one). And profylcatic effect would be great to.

Well, when the data comes out it could be good for you if shedding is reduced to the point where transmission is unlikely. Then you could use it as a protective.

Yes, it's always annoying that I to cannot participate in a future trial for any vaccines or CRISPR. I'll have to wait for the product to be commercially available. Not sure if I'll ever get the chance given my age.

Yeah, bad timing :-( I think I've read Betsy Herold from A. Einstein College has done a research also on hsv 1. In the article from 2015 she says:

....and we are completing the preclinical work required to test this new vaccine in people.

I'd love to be part of trail if it's hsv 1 related.

There are no more news though...

You mean how young (haha)? 35.

I thought you said you were too old to get into a clinical trial. Maybe I have you confused with someone else.

The Einstein College vaccine is prophylactic not therapeutic, although it may have some therapeutic effect also. That vaccine, if successful, is probably a long way off (10 years). That's too bad because I think it may be the most promising of them all.

Yes, it wasn't me. Still, I hope they will ever proceed with research. The money is problem, I guess. Hopefully there are more enlightened investors out there.
