I have been diagnosed with type 1 herpies and I am talking to someone who has type 1 diabetes. How would him contracting herpies affect his diabetes and would it be life threatening?

Has he ever tested for hsv?  Hsv1 is the lesser evil of the genital types so to speak.  He may not even catch it from you.  Its his choice to decide when you tell him

Yes he has and I have told him and apparently his doctor said that it could kill him which doesn't make sense to me.

It depends on if he is compliant with his DM regimen, diet, and medication. For example, if he has uncontrolled DM, the increase in blood sugar would cause the immune system to wane and your boyfriend would be more prone to have outbreaks if he is ever infected. HSV takes advantage of the immunocompromised and many diabetics are immunocompromised. On the other hand if he has his blood sugar controlled then that would definitely help his immune system stay healthy and better able to fight HSV
