Welcome!  Hopefully you are ob free!  I have been since last summer.  I know ohsv1 doesnt have as big of stigma as other locations/types but still hurts like a mother effer.....

Frankly, hsv1 doesnt have as high of stigma, either....

Thank you for the welcome! Ive had it now for 5 years now (at least that im aware of) and only had 3 outbreaks. Ive been very fortunate. Even though its hsv1 its still genital so still has that stigma unfortunately but im glad i have it. Changed my life for the better.

I wouldn't say I am "glad I have hsv1" but I am more careful and lucky that the cheating ex wife didnt give me hsv2 as well....

I believe in testing before.  Every time.  My life is good.  Hopefully they cure it, soon.

Life is all about perspective. I could look at it and be all poor me but that gets you nowhere. You gotta look at it as thank god its only herpes and im still healthy. I was promiscuous. Different dude every weekend. One night stands that gave me instant gratification but left me feeling empty and alone the next day. Thank god it was only herpes that i got and not hiv. But it made me slow my role and now when i get intimate its with people that actually care about me. I dont wake up the next day feeling a hole in my soul. I let my guard down and let people into my heart where before i was cold as ice and very guarded.

Hey hi202020, the Varivax vaccine definitely removed the neuralgia for me, at least so far (fingers crossed). My signs of HSV1 infection after the blood test came back positive in December (with a high IGG of over 55) were: horrible flu symptoms initially (in February) with swollen lymph nodes, followed by almost non-stop, super painful genital neuralgia, and one oral outbreak in March. However, the neuralgia has completely disappeared since the end of April (about a month or so). I had the first vaccine on April 10 and the booster shot on May 19, so about a week ago.

Hey Mackie I have the same neuralgia that you do, did you find anything that helped you? Did you try any vaccines? I’m feeling desperate as I’ve had non stop neuralgia/pain for 4+ months after contracting GHSV-1.

Got my igG results after 13 months and it is negative I think I need to put this behind and may be rhink do some shitty infection that is causing this itching in genitals and on face. Just an FYI my Western blot at 7 months post exposure is negative.

Exactly. Plus some people don't seroconvert ever or for a long time, so it's even larger than that.  Also, it takes longer for hsv. To show up on wb than on a commercial igg test.

Even Terri says that sensitivity of WB for hsv1 is 95-96%. So somebody has to be in this 4-5%...
