Hi

Has anyone experienced vaginal birth with HSV2 without problems?

Interested to learn and hear other experiences!

Thanks

Absolutely, my partner has given birth to two daughters with genital HSV-2. No issues, no antivirals. If there was an outbreak during delivery then the doctor would have discussed further options, however this wasn't the case so two vaginal deliveries ensued.

Every day in the US, between 10-20% of births are to women with genital herpes. Many are vaginal with no issues.

I have delivered two children as well with no issues of any kind without antivirals as well or any other supplement. But then again I did not complete a vaginal birth so I really shouldn't have replied. Although, I do believe that it is possible to have vaginal birth without complications.

So is it accurate that many times women give viganal  birth without taking antiviral and come out ok as long as there is no visible breakouts?

Yes.  Not sure I would do that if I was the mom, though....

I did. Didn't know it was herpes when I had her but my outbreaks occur on my outter butt cheek so she wouldn't pass through an outbreak even if I had one. I luckily wasn't having an out break during the time I gave birth. And I have had it for 8 years so it wasn't brand new to my body and wasn't contracted during my pregnancy with her. And As far as I know she is ok. But it's a daily struggle to not be OCD about giving it to her some how.

I believe this would be a very unlikely scenario.

I Know, It's just the way my brain works. I don't even want her near me when I have an OB. Like if I could I'd probably leave and not be around her at all with an out break and come back when it's gone. I scrub my hands raw. It's something I'm going to see a doctor about.

I know exactly how you feel. I have a kid myself and I was always 'too' cautious as well.
