HSV1&2 but only oral OB (1x a year) Whats up with that?

Hello all,

I was recently diagnosed with HSV2 which was devastating as Im sure most of you can relate. I have HSV1 since I can remember and get a cold sore on my lip about once a year in the same spot. That hasn't changed in years. Its triggered by sickness, drastic temp change and major stress. I've had HSV2 for almost  year now as I know exactly who I got it from and the time frame that happened in and knock on wood.... have yet to have any OB down there. I only found out bc I was STD tested at my annual bc my ex had been cheating... anyway, I have been really stressed out with school and work and low and behold, I had my little flare up on my lip. I know when its coming and I began taking my meds asap which has helped a lot but my main question is - Has anyone else experienced this situation?? Having both but never having a breakout oh HSV2??? I feel as though the HSV1 got aggravated enough to pop up, the other should too. And the stories I have heard is its pretty bad in the first year. I don't know where esle to go with this or who to ask besides others in my position!! Any input and/or feedback is welcomed and appreciated!

First the blood test result should be confirmed as there are some wrong tests and incorrect interpretations around.

Do you have the full test results at hand?

Hang on a minute, this thread isn't about you @Atrapasueños and you are only guessing that you have genital HSV and only guessing the symptoms are caused by HSV. Please put your wild speculations in your own thread so we can provide support to members with questions and issues. Cheers!

@WilsoInAusMe aburres yo se mis síntomas y mis enfermedades

Y si comenté en este tema fue porque el dijo que tiene ohsv-1. Una vez al año y es la suerte que me gustaría tener

I'm bored I know my symptoms and my diseases

And if I said in this subject it was because he said that he has ohsv once a year and it's the luck that I would like to have

You are that lucky, you've gone your whole life pretty much with no symptoms.

We are all bored too. We repeatedly tell you to get your symptoms diagnosed but you don't. Not one doctor you have seen believes your symptoms are herpes related. Goodness knows why you do, but ours is not to reason why!

Hey hi202020, the Varivax vaccine definitely removed the neuralgia for me, at least so far (fingers crossed). My signs of HSV1 infection after the blood test came back positive in December (with a high IGG of over 55) were: horrible flu symptoms initially (in February) with swollen lymph nodes, followed by almost non-stop, super painful genital neuralgia, and one oral outbreak in March. However, the neuralgia has completely disappeared since the end of April (about a month or so). I had the first vaccine on April 10 and the booster shot on May 19, so about a week ago.

Hey Mackie I have the same neuralgia that you do, did you find anything that helped you? Did you try any vaccines? I’m feeling desperate as I’ve had non stop neuralgia/pain for 4+ months after contracting GHSV-1.

Got my igG results after 13 months and it is negative I think I need to put this behind and may be rhink do some shitty infection that is causing this itching in genitals and on face. Just an FYI my Western blot at 7 months post exposure is negative.

Exactly. Plus some people don't seroconvert ever or for a long time, so it's even larger than that.  Also, it takes longer for hsv. To show up on wb than on a commercial igg test.

Even Terri says that sensitivity of WB for hsv1 is 95-96%. So somebody has to be in this 4-5%...
