Dr. Halford has past way end of june! I am going to cry! This is horrible news. I thank him for all he tried to do for us and all his hard work! But now im wondering if the vaccine has died with him...he was a great man. Hopefully his colleagues will be able to finish what he started not only for us but for all his years spend working on this.

I found out by going on his website. I wanted to ask him if he knew if herpes could give false positive to strep A rapid test and was shocked to see he had past away...

its extremely sad that he passed away however he leaves behind a legacy. hopefully one day his work will contribute to a cure. He will much be remembered by the hsv community for his work, vaccine and beyond. Genoca (Gen-003) is moving into phase 3 later this year however this is a different vax to halfords Theravax. RVX is yet to release data on safety of Theravax so i would say if they are in phase 1 it has not yet concluded.

Lali,

RVx is very sad with his passing, but the mission continues.  RVx wants to get its vaccine to everyone that wants it, to either treat or prevent HSV.

that mission will go on until the goal is achieved.  don't worry, RVx is here to stay.

Just out of interest will RVx be looking at any other conditions too?

Meaning?  Like HIV or?  I think our plate is pretty full already.

Do you shop at Amazon.com? Next time you shop, you can also automatically donate a portion of the proceeds to the Colorado Alphaherpesvirus Latency Society.  This Society organizes the symposium on latency of herpes viruses.  It was here that Keith Jerome announced that he had edited almost 20%-30% of latent HSV in mice last year. (http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/medicalschool/departments/neurology/CALS/Documents/2018 CALS abstracts.pdf) You have to go through smile.amazon.com to set up ongoing donations whenever you shop through smile.amazon.com. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Yes, I understand that I must always start at smile.amazon.com to support Colorado Alphaherpesvirus Latency Society. Why is there a separate URL? The AmazonSmile program offers customers a new benefit, making a donation to your favorite charity. We're able to provide this benefit to you when you choose to start your shopping at smile.amazon.com in part because we expect AmazonSmile to grow primarily through word of mouth instead of paid advertising—and this enables us to fund donations to our customers’ favorite organizations.

WOW, it's true.  So cool!  Thanks for sharing. In my view, for the time being, we can just help support the Colorado Alphaherpesvirus Latency Society, rather than asking Fred Hutch to set something up through Amazon.   Here is an important message though, you have to go through smile.amazon.com to do the donation. According to them:     Yes, I understand that I must always start at smile.amazon.com to support Colorado Alphaherpesvirus Latency Society. Why is there a separate URL?
