I am new here -- this is where I am at

Hi. I'm 37. I am a recently divorced male. It's been 4 months since that life event. I caught my wife cheating with a colleague. We were together and monogamous for 13 years. We share a beautiful 7 year old daughter.

After 3 heartbreakingly lonely months, I idiotically decided to get an escort when I was almost blackout drunk. We used a condom that was a little loose. It seemed to do its job though. I regretted this encounter immediately afterward. I scrubbed my genitals with soap and water and went to sleep.

The next few days I became very paranoid about the potential of an STD. A week went by with no symptoms. About 9 days after I noticed some slight numbness in my hands and feet.

Day 14 I took my daughter to our family cabin for Fourth of July fun. That night I felt a pain on the back of my thigh. I found a small group of pimples and freaked out. I popped one to see if it was like a regular pimple. It seemed to be. A few days later my lower spine hurt to the touch. This lasted a few days.

I'm certain I have contracted herpes. Now my eyes both tingle. One eye was red on one side but only for a few hours. I have an itchy red area on my scalp. What looks to be herpetic sores on my upper gums. Also, it looks like I might have small blisters under the callous of my palm.
I went to the clinic 2 days ago (exactly 3 weeks in) and the doctor ran basically all std tests. Negative results for all these tests. The doctor swabbed the sores on the back of my thighs but they were already almost fully healed.
The doc didn't even look at my palms or eye and dismissed it as impossible to get herpes there unless I touched a sore and then immediately my eye. The mouth and palm lesions don't itch or hurt. The scalp itches and the eyes tingle a bit.

I thought that it was almost impossible to get herpes in so many places at once?

My biggest fear, and the reason I am writing here, is that I passed this on to my daughter. We did a lot of swimming and snuggling over the weekend.
Now she has a discharge in her left eye. She has bumps around her body (they could just be insect bites, no clusters). Finally, she also has a red rash on her back the size of a quarter, tiny lighter spots throughout.

The doctor that I saw said that even if I did contract HSV2. I couldn't give her the virus with regular snuggling or swimming. I should put it out of my mind. But what if??? I can't put it out of my mind. Yesterday she thought I was crazy because I made her wash her hands so much. I feel like my house is crawling with herpes and it is shedding off of me like garden sprinkler.

I'm going to get a blood test this week at my PM. I'm really worried about my daughter. I can't tell her mom what I have done. I'm completely loosing my mind.

If I do have HSV2, why is mine acting so differently than a standard outbreak? Any advice in for me in general?

...What have I done...

I understand your speculation; that's expected. But my advice to you is to assume nothing until you're confirmed. I say this because what you have described so far doesn't definitively sound like herpes. Especially the way you have these issues all over your body. It may very well be some other kind of infection.  It may be too early to get a good medical reading (test) on what you have, so you may have to wait a while. I'm not going to tell you not to be concerned; I think that's impossible. Just don't let your mind run amuck with the thought that you have herpes and gave it to your daughter. Frankly, I'd be quite surprised, based on your daughter's symptoms, that she has herpes. Keep us informed.

I concur. These symptoms are not herpes related.  If you do have herpes its possible you had it from your wife or prior.  The escort does not always mean you get infected from someone in this business.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm seeing a doctor again tomorrow. I have new bumps on my forehead and back of my neck. I feel a pin prick sensation and then sure enough there is another spot. I'm doing everything in my power not to itch anywhere. I'm constantly washing my hands. I really hope whatever is going on is something treatable. Thanks again.

Believe me when I say I understand your concerns and paranoia as I also have a small child. If it was left up to me I would swear all of me even my shadow is covered with H.  I have both 1 & 2 and your current experiences do not seem H related.  Sometimes we almost will symptoms to occur by worrying.   If you did contract HSV2 recently or in the past you can't transmit to your daughter through everyday interaction, it is sexually transmitted. I wont say "don't worry" because I have been where you are.

Please update us as to your results.

That's symptoms experience not be related to genital herpes whatsoever because the virus is in the spine and therefore does not impact anything above the waist line

I got my results back on a full std screen including an IgG HSV test. All negative. I know it's not conclusive after only 24 days but it has brought my stress level down some. I had the same tests done 4 months ago after I found out about my wife's affair. I'm certain I did not have HSV before my last encounter. Thank you for your feedback.

Hey hi202020, the Varivax vaccine definitely removed the neuralgia for me, at least so far (fingers crossed). My signs of HSV1 infection after the blood test came back positive in December (with a high IGG of over 55) were: horrible flu symptoms initially (in February) with swollen lymph nodes, followed by almost non-stop, super painful genital neuralgia, and one oral outbreak in March. However, the neuralgia has completely disappeared since the end of April (about a month or so). I had the first vaccine on April 10 and the booster shot on May 19, so about a week ago.

Hey Mackie I have the same neuralgia that you do, did you find anything that helped you? Did you try any vaccines? I’m feeling desperate as I’ve had non stop neuralgia/pain for 4+ months after contracting GHSV-1.

Got my igG results after 13 months and it is negative I think I need to put this behind and may be rhink do some shitty infection that is causing this itching in genitals and on face. Just an FYI my Western blot at 7 months post exposure is negative.

Exactly. Plus some people don't seroconvert ever or for a long time, so it's even larger than that.  Also, it takes longer for hsv. To show up on wb than on a commercial igg test.

Even Terri says that sensitivity of WB for hsv1 is 95-96%. So somebody has to be in this 4-5%...
