How do you use LDN and what does it help you with?

I have nerve itching from HSV1 in the genital area.  I was wondering if this would help me.

Hi guys I’m on LDN for Lyme Disease and it has helped a lot a lot with pain including HSV burning. My doc said I’ll be on it for two years for my Lyme but is it safe to stay on long term for HSV?  I get mine from a compound pharmacy, 100 pills for $60 so not bad at all.

I'm trying it now, but have a hard time sleeping.  Do you take it at night?

Yes you will have a hard time at first.. vivid dreams and awakes Start small. .5 for a week or 2 And  then 1mg for a week and work up. If you have to open capsule to split it up than do that. 3-4.5 is the optimal dose goal.

Take it before bed.

Stay with it.

Exactly this, gotta work up the slowly over weeks. Upping 0.5mg every week until you reach 4.5mg. Don't go higher as  this can cause the opposite effect of what you want to happen.

Sorry missed this... it helped me within a week. Skipping a few doses is a guaranteed outbreak.

You don't have to take it at night. At first they thought that was true but now they know better. It works the same any time of day. Yes, you'll still see internet myths that say to take it at night.

I was on it for a few months and have been off it for a month or more now as I got too lazy to keep making it from the full size pills for addicts.  Drinking it in mixed in water is also hard on the stomach, another reason I stopped taking it.  I felt a lot better on it and will start again soon.  It doesn't change outbreak frequency or severity for me, but it does calm the nerves and help me feel less sick.  I started right on 4mg, then 4.5, tried lower, but 4.5 was best.  I didn't need to titrate or anything and had no side effects.  I felt the endorphins instantly the next day.

Thank you Slkxx. I want to talk to someone I trust but I am so afraid if I tell my best friend she will tell her husband, which is understandable. I completely trust her to not judge me but if her husband finds out his best friend is an ex of mine and I just don't want this to get around our group of friends. I have been lucky in the fact that the guy who gave it to me has been there for me but it isn't the same. Confiding in him is just making his own struggle more difficult as he feels terrible for what happened but he did not have any bad intentions. As it turns out finding out led to answering a lot of questions he has had about other health issues he had. So in a weird way this happening may actually help him in the long run with giving him an avenue for treatment. I don't want to pile onto his issues even though he has caused mine because at the end of the day he is a good guy who had no idea what was happening. I'm so glad you were able to talk to your friend and I truly hope the suicidal thoughts become a thing of your past. I am here if you need another ear.

Various reasons are possible, including: genetics, immune system, triggers (e.g. stress), lack of nutrition/exercise, bad luck, etc. No one person has the exact same experience.  Have you tried antivirals?
