Then that leaves very little question.

You have been infected genitally with HSV-1 most likely as the result of receiving oral sex from a partner.

You may think this confusing in the sense that there is misinformation out there that genital herpes is HSV-2 by definition. Not so. HSV-1 and HSV-2 are similar yet DNA distinctive viruses. They are both theoretically capable of infecting any region of the body, but most likely oral and genital regions. HSV-1 is often considered a better traveller and is more prolific.

Experience with genital HSV-1 tends to be favourable in the sense of very few outbreaks. You describe monthly outbreaks at present. It is early stages and hopefully this too will settle down further and less frequent outbreaks arise. For most women, time between outbreaks once things settle down is years.

If I had simplex 2 would it show in my blood work like simplex 1?

however I been diagnosed with simplex 1 but showed no signs in my Genital area until after I met my new partner in may...is this possible? As I know it can lie dormant as well...but I would think I would of been seeing signs....and during my monthly cycle sometimes it just tingle or I feel pressure..but if I gave an outbreak it occurs in the same exact area. Is this possible?

My mind really be racing since the doctors have looked at it I’ve had both tell me it look like Genital Herpes But a different form it was more like a cut ...but both did a swab on an active ob one came back negative (when it was fresh) and the other doctor test came back positive (when it was a few days old) I took a blood test 5 months later and nothing showed only simplex 1...the doctor I tested positive with prescribe meds but I don’t take them because I never experience break outs but once a month If That

this makes me want to keep going until they give me 100% accurate answers ...not knowing is the part that gets to me the most.

A properly typed swab is definitive (barring a lab error, but no reason to believe that has happened). Your swab from your genital region has indicated a HSV-1 infection, it will not be wrong.

Culture swabs do require a decent amount of fresh virus to be detected, sometimes they miss an infection. There is nothing too unusual about that.

This alone is more than enough to conclude you have a genital herpes HSV-1 infection.

Your blood test is simply a reaffirmation that you carry the virus. At 5 months it is expected that you do test positive for the acquired infection.

This also all means that HSV-2 is simply not in the picture. You can conclude that you have not been infected with HSV-2.

Genital herpes can be either HSV-1 or HSV-2. It looks like it is 50/50 for women. Yours is HSV-1.

Do you think at this point ongoing tests will be useless? One doctor looked at it and said simplex 2 but my results differed.... I’m really thinking I’ve been had this and it’s just now surfacing for whatever reason and they say stress can bring it out ...but I’m always stressing over the smallest things lol it would of BEEN come out

My Neurologist prescribed me Escitalopram for the nerve pain. Really haven’t started taking it, I was hoping the nerve pain just stops. Some way some how he told me that I will never have an outbreak and I haven’t..Weird?  Anyway I’m married, for 15years. When I discovered I had HSV my wife got tested as we’ll found out she had it since college!! Didn’t know that the fever blisters she got in college was HSV...I trust that this is how I got it. But wouldn’t you know she has no symptoms at all other than she knows she has it. There maybe something to this that there is something else wrong here besides HSV.

It’s not our heads that cause the sores I think this wound be very stupid for doctors to say as you can clearly see a sore.. however I do think if you are focused on a sensation constantly you will zone in on this feeling and always notice it I suffer from anxiety anyway in general so I do think some of my sensations maybe anxiety related.. but no or course cuts/ blisters  cannot be

I've noticed a trend of people sharing stories about doctors telling them the tingling sensation is all in their head or caused by the patient themselves. My doctors did the same thing. I explained that I am not making myself confused and dizzy nor am I causing my skin to cut itself open on my penis and lips.
