Recommended Posts

Puni

Hey guys will the antibodies IGG drop over time?  With use of anti viral?

Do we get negative results if we use valtrex

guys my first result after 3 months post infection came positive at 33ml

i took 3gram valtrex everyday for a week 2 months back,

now i took HSV1 IGG test again last week, it is coming negative, why ?

@MoniqueLow, @LatentBloomer @Mackie82

i guess it's very true what Dr Halford said, people who have struggle seroconverting will have nerve pain ?

Anticirals prevents/minimizes replication of HSV.  So your body doesn’t have anything to fight against.   Therefore it can lower your level of antibodies.  Typically they say to stop antivirals before taking a blood test.

3grams is a very strong dose.  Typically you take 1 gram or less.

HSV-1 testing is different to HSV-2.

This result does bring into question whether you actually have HSV-1 at all.

However there is no reason to believe that if you have HSV-1 that it is an oral infection.

Wilson,. I think you mean not to believe your HSV1 is not oral

I left out a word thanks...

There is no reason to believe that your HSV-1 infection is other than oral.

I never had a cold sore in my life cuz i never had kissed anyone.

There can never be any other infection which causes this or else body would have cleared this with antibiotics.

It's just hsv1

I talked with doctors, they said igg will go down when you don't have active infection, ie no virus in skin or blood,

Neurologia is due to virus replication in neurons.

You are right Puni. I think it’s clear that people who don’t seroconvert are more likely to be neuropathy sufferers. Sadly not only do we have symptoms. But also no good testing.

Its normal that the antibody count goes down if its not being use to fight the virus. Your body goes in "sleeping mode". For example, I got vaccinate for hep A and B when I was younger and had to get my antibody count check decades later for a job, the count was so low they couldn't justify I was protected so they gave me a booster. My body just didn't need to use my antibodies so it went on sleeping mode. You should be glad, it means the antivirals did a good job on suppressing the virus in ur body.

But all HSV is in the nerves.  The body still attcks viruses in the nerves.

It just doesn’t attack when the virus goes latent since when it’s not active the body doesn’t detect it to fight it.

I hear you puni.  Need to look at all options for the pain.  Pelvic floor stretches, Voltaren gel, anti-depressants for nerve pain, nerve meds, steroid creams.

Have you tried Benedryl oral tablets and cream?

Lifocaine sprays?

Also HSV1 testing gives many false negatives (up to 30%) which is another reason doctors don’t like testing for HSV without lesions - especially HSV1

No.  It stays I. The dermatome it infects.  It's in the nerves of your sacral ganglia.

That’s good news. So how does it affect/cause nueralgia (dizzy, etc) and facial tingling? Is it just hitting the nerves that travel up there?

In general it doesn't.  If there were neuralgias it would be in the sacral nerves in the groin / butt and possibly down the back of the legs.

It all depends whether you have a leak in blood brain barrier or not, some people will have leak where the virus enters the csf. And cause all the symptoms you are telling.

Worst case get the lumbar puncture and get pcr diagnosis for hsv

I am fortunate enough to live near one of the most prestigious hospitals in the USA that rates high in infectious disease diagnosis & treatment. I went to a specialist and asked direct questions including about casual sex. Firstly, I have ghsv1. She said: Casual sex is NOT off the table. When someone chooses to have casual sex, they are accepting the risk of contracting an STI. There is no obligation to disclose in this situation unless going without a condom. The risk is extremely low from a one time protected encounter . Don't do it if you are having symptoms. If you have sex with this person repeatedly, especially if you go without protection then you should disclose. If someone rejects you for it she says he's an asshole and a germaphobe. Because it's no big deal

I wanted to validate your choice. He saying 500mg. Plus he was saying it was his favorite for HSV.

Immediately after it clears Phase 3, they might price Pritelivir in an exorbitant fashion and only prescribe it to immunodeficient patients (AIDS). I'm also curious how fast HSV is expected to evolve resistance against Pritelivir.

So I disclosed for the first time last week. I was feeling confident after reading all of the positive disclosure stories out there. I was armed with the stats and presented the information in a calm manner as recommended. I was happy to find out that the guy already had a lot of knowledge about it because had an ex w the same issue. It was nice to have sex without having to worry about harboring a secret, I felt normal for once   I got a text from him in the AM and I was hoping for the usual "had a great time, can't wait to see you again" but instead he was blithering on about being paranoid about the contact. We exchanged one more message that day, and today I sent one, no response..... pretty certain I've been ghosted.  I am back to that dark place where I feel like I'm unlovable / unfuckable dreg of society. I'm a single parent which doesn't help, nobody wants a relationship w someone like me... add the herpes and I might as well be a 400 lb amputee on welfare with an IQ of 70. I feel like I am going to have to eventually "settle" for someone that is willing to be with me, but I don't really like them. I feel that a man that is willing to accept this is probably an unwanted outcast himself.  So ultimately I fear I will have nobody, or settle for a guy that disgusts me
