Hi. Will try to keep it short:

Day 0 - Exposure with HSV2 confirmed female. Exposure = 1-time brief unprotected vaginal. Not sure if she had outbreak/shedding/blisters at that time. She was not on any meds.

Day 5 - Redness and itchiness on the penis head and shaft on and off. Resolved in about a week. No lesions/blisters or other symptoms.

Day 28 - Other symptoms started: tingling and nerve pains in the groin on and off throughout the day, radiating pains in the legs, fordyce spots appeared on the shaft, lower back and neck pain, burning in urethra (occasional), rashes on the body (occasional), diahrrea (occasional), overall nervousness and tiredness, flue like with feverish (occasional). No lesions/blisters.

Day 30 - Tested HSV1 positive (IGG 19.6) (had it since childhood), HSV2 negative (IGG 0.3). All other STDs negative.

Taken antibiotics for 5 days. Taken AV (acyclovir) for 10 days (Days 35-45). No symptoms at that time.

Day 50 - Tested HSV1 positive (IGG 16.4), HSV2 negative (IGG 0.1). I believe AB went down a bit due to AV. All other STDs negative.

Currenty symptoms persist on and off, but less severe: tingling and nerve pains in the groin, radiating pains in the legs. Still no lesions/blisters.

Planning to retest again at Day 90. I am aware that prior HSV1 and AVs may delay HSV2 ABs production.

What are your thoughts/advice? Thank you.

Keep an eye out for any sores and if you get one get it swabbed even if the dr says it looks like acne other.

Any other symptoms? Change in taste in mouth or others, weight loss, etc?

Thanks @Jay2255 Lost several pounds, but I think it is due to high anxiety. Have some headaches recently as well. Got some acnes on the body and face. No taste changes.

Some on the hands and body. They have resolved by themselves.

I dunno McDuck. Burning urethra and nerve pain in your groin is about the only thing that sounds like herpes. Regarding the fordyce spots and rashes on your penis I'd speculate that you're experiencing the same feeling we all did which is to look at your McCock far more than you normally would and feel every little itch and pay so much attention thinking everything is herpes.  So you could simply be over reacting to the thought of knowingly having slept with a HSV2+ woman. But the nerve pain I can't explain.

IF you do have herpes, be thankful you haven't had a god awful primary OB. If you're anything like me, it could mean that you're either going to be asymptomatic or experience infrequent and very mild symptoms. Both of which are better than monthly or quarterly outbreaks.

Did you doctor only give you the Antivirals because you made them aware that you had sex with a HSV2+ woman? Ie- are they simply giving them to you because you basically have nothing to loose in taking them just incase it was herpes?

Only a positive swab and or IGG will tell you for sure what's going on though, and so far I wouldn't freak out.

EDIT- Consider that the rash on your knob might just be mild yeast infection. I find that with most new partners over the years, I am sensitive to their bacteria and when I first begin sleeping with someone I'll often get a little yeasty. I am sensitive in that way, maybe you are too... but regardless, in sex we exchange a lot of bacteria, which can throw our natural balance out.

I slept with a woman, no condom, and it burned like all hell to pee like the following day. We had been sleeping together for a couple of weeks using condoms prior to this. Doctors ran tests etc nothing came back. THEN they tested for herpes. Swab= positive. They also took blood but I still to this day do not know whether the blood test came back positive or not, meaning I dunno if I got it from her or if I had it for longer but didn't know.

I took Famvir for a while, never had an OB beyond the burning to pee. The burning in my thigh skin didn't go away for a good while (I seriously cannot recall if it was one month or three... but it felt like forever), but once I switched to Valaciclovir it went away in three days.

I went thru the same shit you are at the moment sort of... thinking I was having minor OBs which were little rashes and such. But eventually I had a few swabs done on them, and they all came back negative. My doctor was happy to do the repeated random tests, he knew I wanted to learn about my condition better so I could be more confident in knowing what was herpes and what was just an itch, or yeast, or just the result of masturbating before bed in summer and not showering the following morning- I'm sensitive and that kinda behaviour will make me a little rashy, but it's not herpes it's just sensitive skin and yeast etc.

You need to:

a) IGG at 90 days.

b) have any penis rash/lesion/suspicious mark etc swabbed in the meantime.

c) chill out and have a beer.

:)

I would almost encourage you to push yourself. Some people can't eat chocolate or drink coffee without getting an outbreak.

Me? Last night I went out, drank more alcohol with a high sugar content than I'd like to admit, smoked heaps of weed, snorted one line of cocaine and did a bit of MDMA, and while I was fucking hung over today, I don't have a herpes outbreak. I do have a girlfriend, so I take Valaciclovir once a day- 500mg- but a lot of people would get an OB from this kind of irresponsible drug taking and drinking, and a lot of people get regular OBs even without behaving this way and despite taking valaciclovir.

So, I'm not telling you to go out and get fucked up on drugs, but I'm just saying you should loosen up and if it is in your nature to drink heavily or take drugs, maybe not holding back on those things is a good test of your body at this stage.... People will probably say I'm crazy, but I figure IF someone has herpes and they can still periodically abuse themselves and not wake up with an OB, they are one of the 'lucky ones'.

We use condoms 98% of the time. I'd say we've had unprotected sex less than 10 times.

I'm gonna flip a coin and guess that you won't have herpes.

What's the story anyway- did you knowingly sleep with an HSV2 + woman or did she tell you after?

Selfish woman. I'm generally pretty forgiving of people who don't disclose, unless they've done it repeatedly... so try not to be angry with her... still I think it would piss me off big time. I suspect my giver knew but didn't tell me. But who knows.

The main thing I have in common with @Constant Diplomat and @fallin is that none of us presented blisters during our primaries, only urethritis. And I also had severe sciatic pain down my left leg that left me limping. I only experienced it again after getting a sunburn beginning of November though it wasn’t nearly as painful. It was quickly followed by about a week of chronic urethritis and I was still taking acyclovir at the time. OTC AZO pills are amazing for dealing with urethritis, btw.

All of my in house urine cultures suggested I had a UTI but all came back negative for bacteria after being sent out to Quest for further analysis. Does your urine have elevated WBCs?

Well I really don't know what to say,  as of the moment I am considered negative to both hsv 1 and 2 with index numbers declining,  one dermotologist suggested anxiety and stress causing my symptoms, also some sort of bacteria. I'm 6 months in from possible exposure and I'm finally taking some antibiotics to see if anything is different in my body. I have 3 weeks to take , so far I'm on day 4. Will not be having an igG till possibly jan which will be 8 months or 34 weeks from my possible exposure. My exposure was protected orally and penetration,  so who knows if I have this or not.

No more pins and needles,  I did for the first 2 months , went to the doctor and symptoms went away when he said no HSV. Minimal stabbing pain and rarely now , which was located on pelvic site actually , and a shot of cortisone cleared it up. The only consistent thing with me now is joint pain on both sides of legs , below the waist. This is the strange part,  once I received my cortisone shot I began to get this soreness and it never went away. I'm still hoping for it to be a side effect of cortisone.

As of now you should be hoping you kinda are still testing 6-8 months because that could mean you're negative. Hopefully you're in the clear, best wishes.

Hello there @momma267 and welcome. There is no reason to believe that what you have there is other than a pressure sore, something that has emerged from rubbing with clothing or butt cheeks and exacerbated by bacteria or yeast.  Note that the first you’d learn of herpes is unlikely to be on your butt, instead where it enters your body, this is usually within the vaginal lips for females.

So to begin with, I am 26 and have been with the same partner for 8 years. I have only been with three people ever, one completely protected and the other we were both our firsts. I got this rash on my but while pregnant and my doctor said she was testing for it and I'm so confused. I've had two babies, breastfeed, and never had anything as much as a cold sore. Does this look like something anyone has experienced? I used fragrant soap down there and am hoping it's contact dermatitis or a heat rash from sweating and gaining so much weight.  Advice would be helpful. I'm stressing out a bit as I am pregnant. @WilsoInAus could you kindly have a look :) also how long does it typically take for herpes blisters to develop into sores

Hi, it is me again, apologies for the recent influx of posts. I've noticed a slightly raised area on the middle of my top lip with what i feel are some bumps. i do have a habit of biting my lips a fair bit and this area is frequented by my teeth. I haven't noticed any unusual/abnormal tingling or burning or pain sensations. the photos are a bit difficult to focus on them but do these seem like the start of cold sores? note: I will be visiting the drs for an std checkup in the coming week. https://imgur.com/gallery/YLVA5us

To give everyone confidence that it wasn’t herpes related and conclude as the doctor did that it was a dermatitis issue to refer back to the dermatologist to continue with investigations.
